I'm very loyal to Shrade / Uncle Henry / Old Timer which is now owned by the same company.
They fall in the catagory of "affordable and good enough"

I like Shrade pocket knives. I've never owned one of their larger knives. I like Case pocket knives, too. My first sheath knife was a Case. If you were to look in my pocket right now, you'd find a Buck minibuck- polymer handle, single blade. The minibuck is nice and flat and light. Oddly enough, although I own several knives, the minibuck is the only Buck brand knife I own.

Oh hell, knives are like guns....I like a lot of different brands.
I suppose I've owned more Case knives than any other, but that's probably 'cause they are made just 75 miles up the road from me.

I don't have any particular loyalty to one brand or another. The pocket knife I carry most of the time is a Case (I believe) boy scout knife. My favorite sheath knives are my Pumas.

The only knife I have carried day in and day out for the last 6 years is a leatherman. It has a whole tool kit plus on it and has become indispensable to me. Feel nekked without it.

As a youngster,I was given a Schrade pocket knife,by my Uncle, and have had one in my possession since then. They were made only 20 miles from Newburgh. But,now, they are made in China, and my new favorite is Buck;made way out in Idaho. They are" bucking" the trend, and bringing work FROM overseas to The USA. That's My kind of Company;I have two Buck knives, and may buy another. Frank

Hey I was like 15 before I found out Purina wasn't a knife brand! If it didn't come with a feed order we didn't get one. The first GOOD knife I ever got was a Gerber, but it was too hard to sharpen for daily use. I currently either carry a Lagoile or a Puma, but for rough work I have a leaf point Buck.

I had a Gerber, way back, that was harder than the hubs of hell. But back several years ago I got a little Gerber for a Christmas present. I carried it for my work knife the last few years I worked, and it seemed fairly easy to put an edge on. I'm thinking they may have switched steel, or maybe my new one is Chinese, I'll have to look. New one, probably 2000 vintage...... Old one, it was early 70's vintage.......

For over 12 years I carried a single blade Marbles (Japan) lock back. I won it as a door prize at the Anderson Indiana Knife collectors show.
I collect Gerber, case peanuts, queensteel, bull dog brand fighting roosters Walden scharade Smith and wesson, remington bullets, and some old advertising knives accually just about any good pocket knives I can come around with money in the pocket and my dad has all kinds of knives he is a big collector including silverware.
I lost the marbles in the couch before I got married for about 2 months until the TV remote got lost and I found it. Then sometime last year it disappeared while wearing a pair of pants that had weird pockets that let things like change Knives and keys fall out when you sit down. Those pants are history (I used them to stain a deck to teach them a lesson) and so is that Marbles knife.
I have yet to replace that pocket knife but pulled an old boker out of the box to get me by but it does not fit in the pocket like the marbles so I do not carry it daily. I did carry a gerber multitool for about 3 years until i set it down and moved a computer monitor out of a hall and into a classroom at a hospital. it was unwatched for less than 10 minutes and it was gone. I still have the case and the rest of the bits for it but no gerber.
I am a Randall man if given an unlimited budget. I have been buying customs from local makers lately to use.

How about Barlow knives. They were the knife of choice for a lot of farmers in our area. The local hardware sold Case knives and Barlows. When I was a kid just about every hardware and general store had a display on the counter.

Barlow, knives were a good utilitarian knife and I owned several over the years. Did everything you should use a knife for and did not cost so much you were out a lot if you lost it. I'd have to look but should still have one or two?
