Just another update --- because I don't want anyone saying "I couldn't go because this wasn't planned out in time" We haven't heard from anyone in regards to needing a specific date for vacation purposes so at this point the date is still flexible. We could use the weekend (18-19) for travel, begin the hunt on the 20-24, and again use the weekend for travel. Something like that. Or we could probably do the following week too say the 25th-May 3rd. That would give Bubba an extra week to recoup and possibly make it and me an extra week to take care of business. I think bounce said the week before was a little hotter in terms of the hunting though. Of course if there's half the number of birds there as they say I'll think we'd be alright. I know there was a question about the dates of a black powder rendevous that the neb guys were planning on going to and that was believed to be the 25-26??? Will that inconvience our hosts if we're using it for travel either to or from neb? Bubba appears to be out (depending on his outcome of surgery) I appear to be in (so long as nothing major conveniently breaks or leaks in this new house). Last we heard that Jmarriott may have been given the green light? I think a couple others were kicking around the idea. We're still 6 weeks or so out but it's something to think about. So who's thinking what in terms of - do you think you might go?

Been off work since X-mas EVE, right now things are tough all over.
Getting the time off work does not seem to be a problem, getting the cash flow to make the trip seems a bit harder. At this time I do have the cash from the Marlin SDT i sold but even that may go to bills. I have some side work coming up when the construction season starts.
I have never been off work for so long in my 10 years union.

Oops, I remembered I have a wedding on the 2nd of May.
I was doing some figuring on the costs
1500 mile round trip from St. Louis (1200 miles but figure some extra driving to town) @ 22mpg @ $2.00 per gallon is $140
Tags are $50-150 so figure on $100 b/c that's two birds
If you drive right thru and camp while there, the cost is $0
Food/drink for a week might be $75
So the minimum cost is going to be $315 but $400-450 might be a better planning price for those who can't drive 12 hours a day.

Personal preference for me would be the week of the 20th because our season doesn't start till the following week (just in case we get rained out or skunked). Nebraska has an early season. I think most states are going to fall in line with ours here in MO.
But I don't care
Let me also say that I'm willing to work this either way as far as transportation, lodging, etc. If someone wants to go, let's bend over backwards and see if we can make it happen.
If it saves money. we can meet up in St. Louis if it's on the way. We can rent a hotel. We can camp in a tent.
We can work this however everyone wants to.
I am committed to going so long as someone else is. Being 3-4 weeks out, we do need to get going on this.
Can any of the non-nebraskans commit at this time?
