If it's brown, it's down ;D Him calling the game warden is more suprising to me than him shooting a llama. I can actually see where someone (especially someone from the east, south, or midwest) could mistake it for an elk. You might be in the timber and only see part of the animal. The head is sort of like an elk. Same fur color. If I was going to shoot the first elk I saw, I would of probably shot it too. It's certainly not something that is expected. Serouisly, what are you going to tell your hunting friends "I had a shot this morning but it was a llama so I let him walk" THERE'S NO WAY I'M SAYING THAT !!! ;D

Well I had one of those llama like thing get loose on my uncles farm.
The thing got loose from a local farm were they make stuff from the hair. I think it is different animal but about the same. In the fog and early morning light walking down a game trail it did look like a big old doe. I did draw the shotgun but it did not walk like a doe so I did not shoot. It walked right passed me and into the creek bed area I was hunting. I can see where one might make the mistake. About a month later it ended up outside my uncles barn and he got it inside a pen and called the owners. It was brown but a darker brown than a doe, My dad did not believe me until my uncle penned it up. HE even said i was a good thing I did not shoot it.
And I did tell dad I saw a llama.

That's interesting, there are two Subspecies imported for use in the states both to produce wool and as pack animals. The Lama is quite a bit larger and are commonly used as pack animals, especially in the Rocky Mountain states. The Second is the Alpaca smaller than the Lama and are raised primarily for their wool. Theres a acerage on the edge of town that keeps Lama's
