Here's the deal with the file attachments. It only costs 2 dollars a month (24 dollars a year) unless we go over our allowed storage, in which case we simply pay another 2 dollars. We did have this option in Nov and Dec and I think it was used twice. One of the members had some trouble opening it, I don't know if he resolved that or not. This pay option is a rather primative one and going through a photo hosting company is pretty simple and makes the post look better. If you scroll down to the last post by Twomoons, you will see what the finished product looks like. Another note would be you can only use one attachment per post. So if you want to show 3 pictures, you have to have 3 posts. huntingfirearms.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=deer&action=display&thread=4099The question is Is it worth 24 dollars a year when there is a free alternative which in many ways is actually better (but takes a few more minutes to post) If you guys want it, we'll renew it again.

I tried to open your example and got this : This forum has currently exceeded it's maximum storage space for attachments. An administrator needs to either remove existing attachments to make room, or pay for additional storage space. I never could open the one I had trouble with.
To me its easier to email photos to you or Scott .............. JMHO Don

It makes no never mind to me... so I didn't vote. I just thought I read somewhere that we could do it now. I have no problem with a "host" for pics.... so what ever you guys decide is OK with me.

Geez I guess if you stop using their pay option, they'll block everything you used when you were paying. Doesn't seem too fair Anyway, don't click on that attachment b/c it doesn't work. But that's how it would look. You'd click in and open the picture up in a new window.

I think the pay option is a joke. Seems like technology from 15 years ago, a lifetime in the technology world. The idea of posting pictures directly to the site had great merit, but the methods available sort of burst the bubble... If anybody has a problem with the free hosting sites, I'll be happy to continue posting pictures e-mailed to me....

Direct posting of photo's would be nice. I kinda hate to bother other folks with my stuff so I don't send a lot of pictures that would be nice to post. Just as an example I had some pictures of a 45 ACCP case inserted backwards in a 45 cylinder and a picture of the headspace ring in the cylinder. It would maybe have helped to SEE what was going on. I notice that on the forums with direct posting there are a LOT more photo's posted and a lot more posts too. BUT this would depend on cost and ease of use.

We're working on a photo gallery on the new domain website. There's a couple to choose from and one might be easy to copy/paste to the forums.
We'll have to see how that turns out.
