Well my 2000 Ford Expedition got traded today. Went to visit my son and see my new Grandson. On the way down I filled up on the reservation north of Dep Don's place and the truck started running bad. Figured Crap I got water in the tank. It was running really bad when I stopped and picked up Dad to take him along. By the time I got to Omaha it was just plain running like a POS and getting about 10.5 mpg. I headed back home Sunday and just made it back to dads and stayed the night and headed for Niobrara NE the next day to get it fixed. Ended up needing a couple plugs and 2 coils. Thats $400 and they told me the rest of them were going bad and would need replacing soon. Thats $1600 for a complete set. Course I had 130,000 miles on them before this happened but I also needed new tires. That brought it to $2000 for repairs. So I talked to Allen at Moody's. Dep Don, he is a bad person to know. I ended up leaving there with a 2008 Ford F150 XLT King Cab. Rides better than the Expedition and gets about 19 MPG on the interstate. Its just that I almost had the Expedition paid off. GRRRRRRR

Bill, pure speculation on my part but i have to think you got a smoken deal on that truck as i know at least around here they couldn't give them away this summer. if i knew we had enough work load for the following year i would be out buying something too but i'm sitting tight for a while. sure are some smoke'n deals out there right now. congrats on the new rig.

Smoking deals right now on the trucks and I suspect gas prices will stay this way for 5-10 years until the economy fully recovers.
I think you can sneak in a gas guzzler and be ok. I'm going to do that next year right before they make the swtich to automatic headlights when the car is running. There's times when I want to turn the lights off and I'm not sure if it can be manually overrode. I guess you can pull the fuse but...

Chevy has been doing the lights on all the time thing for many years and my 96 has that feature. At first I was skeptical too Red. But have noticed driving in traffic it seems that people see my little s-10 and might not without that feature. I have come to like it and get irritated at those jerks driving at dawn and dusk w/o lights and are hard to see. I'v caught myself almost cutting them off cause they did not have their light on.

I don't disagree. I think it's a good thing to be required for all vehicles.
My issues deal mainly with private land hunting --- if I'm driving through my hunting area in the dark or simply pulling in to park, I want the lights off.

I'm just hopeing on bills old truck that the lights turn on when the switch is pulled. At least I know it is broke well for hunting out of it's windows. Bet bill has all the critters trained to walk right up to it lol.
