I am ALL for businesses being closed on Sundays, if they CHOOSE to be. I am ALL for people NOT doing any personal businees on Sundays too, IF they CHOOSE not to. I do NOT like the government getting involved and LEGISLATING it.
DANGER DANGER POLITICAL POLITICAL!!! WHOOP WHOOOP!!
Don't tell me how to live... and I won't tell YOU how to live.
When did Sundays become the Sabbath anyway? Didn't it USED to be Saturday? per the Jewish faith... that was the predecessor to Christianity?
hm.

I agree Jabba I am sick of the govenment running every aspect of human life. As far as sabbath, well it's a traditionally observed day of rest. Would not matter one bit if it was observed on Wednesday. So long as it was observed one day a week! In fact Wed would work out nicely to break up the week.

Oh lordy, I probably shouldn't have broached the subject of Sunday hunting. I will have to side with Jabba and jimiowa on this one and am not ashamed to do so. You guys that don't want to hunt (or whatever) on Sunday, that's fine by me, but don't tell me that I shouldn't be allowed to hunt on Sunday as long as it's legal. One segment of our society trying to dictate what's moral and ethical to another segment is a large part of what's wrong with this country today. That same kind of thinking was what created the old Sunday Blue Laws back during colonial times to start with and, unfortunately, is still alive and well today. I am sorry to have gone off on such a tirade but this is a subject that really, really irritates me.

Uh Oh.... I just read our hunting guide and the little slip of paper they list the migratory bird's seasons on and found that we have UPPED the amount of doves allowed to be taken to 15 and NOT 12 as I previously stated.
However, in the hunting guide, in big, bold, black letters, it still says, " NO SUNDAY HUNTING"....

Thirty years ago, NY repealed the 'no stores open on Sunday' law. At that time, I was running a store, and here's how having things open on Sunday effected my store: previously, we'd been open 6 days a week, from 10 AM to 9:30 PM. Every employee was off on Sunday, and one other scheduled day. After we had to open Sunday (the mall we were in mandated it), we had to schedule 2 days off for everyone. I ended up having to hire another person to cover the extra hours we were open, and the days off for people. We had to have the lights and heat on another day as well. The end result was that my store's costs went up. Now, did sales go up? Nope, same amount of sales, just spread out over 7 days instead of 6. Think about it- my customers didn't get any more money to spend, just more days in which to spend it. Don't know that it's either here nor there- just another viewpoint, I guess.
