I had something happen to my Ranger yesterday (80k miles)
I was at a stop sign, stopped, and went to accelerate again. However, the engine shut off when I stopped with the check engine/check gauges light on.
In amist of people blowing their horns and me trying to restart the thing up again, I didn't have time to figure out if the engine turned off by itself or if somehow I accedently bumped the ignition (testing it later at home, it doesn't take much of a turn to kill it). And when you do bump the ignition back, the same gauge lights do turn on.
Anyway, the engine sounds fine. Accelerating seems very sluggish though but it's a 2.3 liter --- there's not a lot of get-up anyway and I may be imagining it.
Your thoughts?

If it has oil and water, and they aren't mixing, and it doesn't have a miss, I'd drive it another 80K.
