It was 1977, I was camping on the Rio Grande in the Big Bend area perhaps 30 ft from the river with wife and several friends. No-one brought a tent;we were under the stars. We had a camp cookout that evening along with a couple (haha) of Cervasas Freo. (Budweiser on ice). My wife and I shared a huge sleeping bag, about the size of a queen size bed. I woke up in the middle of the night, there was crunching sound close by, but only the stars were out, no moon. I found a flashlight and looked around. There was a skunk chewing on the aluminum foil that hours earlier had BBQ chicken on it. The fellow was < 6 feet from our our bag. I watched him for a few minutes when the thought occurred to me that I should not be so insensitive as to not share this site with others. I woke up my wife, and told her that there was a sight she aught to see. I pointed the flashlight at the skunk. My wife was 6' 2", it was surprising how she could fit in a tiny ball at the foot of the bag. The was some muffled soounds coming out of the foot of our bag... In retrospect, I don't think she would have wanted me to wake her.
By the way the skunk eventually left after chewing on all the aluminum foil.
