We probably don't have enough members for this yet, but I'd like to see the day when we can divide the rifles section by manufacturer. I saw this on another forum, I think it was Graybeards, and there are separate sections for Remington, CZ, Browning, Ruger, Savage and I think a couple others. It can really be informative for shooters who have those particular makes of rifles. It's just something else that the average board member can relate to. Maybe it's merely a pipe dream, but it would be different, wouldn't it? Best wishes.

There are only two boards I am aware of that actually made that system work right. Only one is still running.
Marlintalk used to be a good one. Grant you it was divided into only marlin/HR products. It was a very good site and I don't know why in the world MARLIN would take it off. It was the best kind of marketing available - I know because I bought 2 rifles because of what I read on their forums.
Now the other site, Rimfirecentral. Everyone knows of this one so we might as well talk about it... It is ONLY (for the most part) a technical firearm site dealing with only accuracy and custom upgrading. Their format works for them because of the number of visitors and site itself.
Greybeard is a very active site (or at least it was last year when I looked at it). However, I think it is VERY POORLY divided in terms of forums. I was personally unhappy with some of the forums we had on the old site but the greybeard board has no order what so ever. You have the traditional hunting and gun boards like all do. But then all of a sudden you have forums about certain companies and then you have some about certain firearm actions. From what I remember, the members of that site were decent members (better than 2 or 3 other boards that I can name [but not here in public]). I think that site is a success but those forum catagories are really holding them back.

As a long time member, i do not see any urgency/any goods to devide the rifle forum into sub divisions...especially section by manufacturer etc, in this forum. How many of us here are "expert" on Remington, or Ruger, or Savage CZ Browning, etc? Also who will be the mod(s) ... Graybeard is just diferrent with us, we know that. The less the category the best our forum works....imHo.

Admittedly we don't have near enough members to currently make such a subdivison work. My main concern is who is manufacturing what and how bad are they making it! I don't think most new guns today are worth a damn, mainly because of all the cost cutting that's occurring. A shooter who has just been burned badly in a $700. gun purchase isn't shy about letting the whole world know it. I think we all benefit from this knowledge being shared, and if nothing else it might affect what is coming out of the factories. Certainly it affects what we buy. Oh well, just a thought. Best wishes.

The best way to achieve what you're talking about cal is making a site similar to rimfire central. I can see that being a successful site, but alas I don't have the time nor the interest to create such a site.

Yeah, you're right Red, but then again I suspect you've never sunk almost a thousand in a new rifle that turned out to be a bummer. Jeez you have a fit if the price of Duk tape goes up a dime. How much stock do you have in that company anyway? That's one thing we share in common, geting riled up too easily at times. Hey, this year will be better, I'm sure of it, well fairly certain, aw sh*t, it'll be same ol', same ol'. But I'm hopeful anyway, how about you? Best wishes.

I have no idea how to respond to that...lol
I'm sure it will just be another year. 2004 was horrible for me, 2005 was not good, 2006...well let's hope for the current trend and call it "so-so". I'll be happy with so-so.
