OK folks. What is it that ya'll do, in the way of outdoor hobbies to keep your mind stable when things start buildin' up on ya. A few things like Seb building match rifles, & the most profesional shootin' rest. Jabbas brothers carved feathers. Some here make there own turkey calls. Then there's PBR. Well PBR makes us laugh, but I don't think that counts ;D ;D.
Just to name a few things that keep me ocupied is carving decoys, (decoration & workers). Carvin moose sheds, powder horns, makein' mountain man & Indian truck outta leather, bone, stone/rock ect., ect. Buildin' & carvin' gunstocks . There are several more, but these are what I do the most.

I can't say I have any constructive hobbies (take that for what it's worth). I just get outside hunting and fishing as much as possible. This is one of the few days in the last 3 months where I've stayed at home on my day off work.

I like woodworking ... I have a shop over at my Pop's place but I just haven't had time to go build something ... I really enjoy old colonial furniture buildiing ... it's kind of therapeutic... My Pop (who's 88 now) built all the furniture (wood) in their house ... Tables, captain's chairs, end tables, sail maker's bench, dry sink, hutches, secretary and a couple of corner shelfs... he's good and he got me interested in it when I was younger... he tends to build things in softer woods .. I like to build things in Cherry and Oak ... the harder woods ... Up in his barn loft he's got about 500 board feet of black walnut that he had sawed about 20 years ago ... all different sizes ... some day I'll learn how to make a gun stock and use up some of the 4X4s he's got up there... but I'm not going to waste a good piece of walnut until I learn how ...

Also depends on where you live. You like the colonial type things b/c you're in the NE. People like bill, bounce, don, etc like the plains theme b/c they're from NE.
Oh that's confusing...

Where we live may play a small roll as to our interests,but not 100%. I'm classified as coastal plains, North-east, south Jerseyan & so on. My area was founded on the fishing industry. Oysters top of the list, blue pincher crabs,lobster, clams, scoulops, big snails ect. running second to none. I personnally had a hand in the rebuilding of alot of ol' time schooners. From carpenter work, engine work, & corking (chalking). Then if you take 3 steps in off of the Deleware bay, then you are now a farmer ;D. I geuss since the government won't let us fish with a well placed stick of dynamite, I chose to hunt our swamps ;D Now to hack it out as they did in the past, we did alot of things the same as they did out in the mid-west. it's just not as open here in our thick swamps as the open prairie. But all had the same goals in mind. Kill something so we can eat it. I spect it's the same threwout North America, just a differant acsent when we talk. Now I like things moreso from out thata way because I've lived life here in the East, but have always been curious as to other walks of life. This keeps my interests open to always learn more of things that aren't readily avalible here.

My interests are studying wildlife; hunting wildlife; and cooking wildlife. Along w/ Mushroom huntin'; fishing; and did I mention cookin'? I also farm and ranch (raise cattle); and dogs. But mostly I love to study it, hunt it, cook it, AND eat it!!!!!!!

Well now there is probably a big difference in talent and what I do? ;D But I truly enjoy the quiet time alone in the shop. I have this past summer finally put the woodworking shop I tore down when I moved 5 yrs ago back together in the garage. Have a couple small projects going now for the kids house. And hope to get some shop cabinets finished by spring.
Jo has big plans for next summer, which include installing a French Door where a window is now. And building new cabinets for the kitchen.
Not sure it will get done this summer, but I`m working on plans for a 16' X20' stand alone woodworking shop in the back yard so I can keep woodworking and garage stuff separated.;

He was the same one that told me I best slow down my little Ford Falcon, cause if he ever caught me I`d be walking.

Hello guys, I just came back home today. I got food poisoning - diarhoea / stomach problem some days ago while my stamina was also dropped much... Health means everything when we got ill, doesn't it?....Sometimes i didn't realize that when i'm in no trouble or so....Blessing in disguise, i think.
Stump, actually i don't build match rifles. What i did is just built rifle(s) to suit my personal needs (just for me, and some close friends), and because there is no good gunsmith, or gunstore that i could buy the stuff with ease in Indonesia. I am glad though that my rifles are good enough to win matches down here in my country and rival the expensive-imported rifles. But if i could get rifles etc so easy down here, i guess it would be different....maybe i just buy them....no "creative/tinkering thing" etc......sometimes such condition makes someones "clever", or learn (to build things), imo.
I consider myself a bit "perfectionist" recently... i always want "the best" i can. Quality thing. That sometimes "killing" me self. For instance, i can make a considerably good stock for about two or three days work (most peoples even said it's very good etc), but when i'm getting "more involve", i can proceed it in one month or even more for finer details / works. So, it's depend.
I tend to say that "talent" is important, but "will" and "consistency" are more important thing in my opinion.......Just for instance, i don't have such "talent" in designing/building........automotives, or whatever, but if i "want", or have "will", and "consistent" to do it, i do believe i can also can. The same to you all here, i think. You got my point? Everybody can if they "learn".

Excellent photo of the wasps.
I've also wanted an end table like the one you made. I would probably get a bunch of cap and ball revolvers and display them.
