Hello guys!
For you that would like to know how my new coax rest looks like...you can see my post at benchrest central.com - centerfire - Trying to update my new front rest project.
I don't know how to attach pics here in this forum
Btw, i got 9 more peoples order in one day...that's for my second run production.
Whew...just would like to share my happiness.......i really phisically tired now.....sorry can not active in this forum for some time.....sebastian.

Great to hear from ya again Seb. I'll have to drop by over there & give it a look see. I haven't had any luck postin pic's either. I would like to post some of my stocks, decoys & a few other things I carved, drew, or fashioned as well.

Good to hear from you.
In order to post a picture, it has to be on the internet already.
1. Right click on the pic and go to properties
2. copy the pic address in properties
3. when posting here, you will see two rows of "tags" (right above the smilies)
It is the 4th from the left on the lower row.
Click on that and simply paste your address inbetween the brackets.

Thanks guys... It's just my "poor" attempt to build the rest(s)... I'm glad though that my rest is well come to the Benchrest "crowd"... I suspect it would be as popular as Farleys later...well, who knows? My rest is smooth (the movements), has more features, has plenty MOA, easy/easier to carry, more affordable, more "custom" etc etc... Scott, how do you "copy?" the pics from another forum, btw?.....i really genius in the computer thing!!! Thanks........Seb. PS: Scott, you know me for a long time personally...you know my conditions etc etc.....i need your insights for the payment for their orders.......what is the best methode and most FAIR methode for them to pay the rests??? Western Union??? (please be advised that there is no PayPal methode in Indonesia). Money Transfer via Bank??? (it's easy/okay for me to provide or let them know my saving/account...as i said it's okay and common way in Indonesia). When do you think they should send the money? after they get the stuff???....or should i ask payment or deposit first???...or perhaps ask them send the money (plus shipping price) before i send them (when the stuff is ready to send/finished). How could i know if someones really want to order one and have a good will to pay etc? If someones say "i interested in one", or "keep me on your list", or something like that (in short email/PM)....is that means they trully order my stuff??? I just really "depend" on my feeling/instinc now (because of the languange barrier).... ......... Btw, i may probably make a webpage or so....and order can be done by filling the order form etc....But for the time being what do you think good and fair for Both sides??? Having bad experience with "Mr. C" before (that suck*r) seems make me affraid with internet fraud today.... Of course i will not cheat etc, you know that....but how about they that i'm not familiar with before?....Even that suc*** that i'm "familiar with" cheated us before............ So?  ?. All you need to do to link to a picture is right click on the picture, at the bottom of the window that comes up there will be "Properties". If you click on that, it will show you the URL for the picture. You can then insert that as a link to the other site. You can also place it in another site as an image, IF the site that has the picture on it is a "hosting site, such as Hunt101. I think you should ask for the money when you have the product ready to ship. If you ship product before payment, you will get burnt...Sorry......... Sadly, there is no way for you to judge whether someone has honorable intentions or not. In any group of people, there will be some who are dishonest. It is unheard of in our country for any person, or company, to ship an item before they recieve payment. The best thing that you could do to show your honesty is to get the customers e-mail address and e-mail a UPS tracking Number to them as soon as you ship the item. People not used to shipping, or recieving, items internationally are going to get nervous with the time it takes. A tracking number should ease their fears.(Trully) IN ADVANCE......seb. |

I like how he censored out the "e" instead of the "f" ;D  I pretty much agree with scott, so I'll rephrase it in a way only I can.   As far as payments go, there are several good ways and several bad ones. Cash, personal checks, etc are bad ways. I would also avoid sending personal account numbers. Let me rephrase that they will butt**** you overWiretransfers between banks are a decent way; so is western union but it is costly (sending 1000 dollars to your country from the US could cost easily 150 dollars for the fee alone. Money orders are alright, as is cashier/official bank checks. Of course it's going to be a pain converting the money. A "forgein draft" might be a good idea too. I would recomend going to your bank and talking to someone about it - afterall, they are the ones who will be taking care of you laterAs far as the deposit goes, that's up to you. You could probably charge 10-50% as a deposit. Or you could charge 0%. Because you're overseas, I'd consider 0% down because it's going to be hard enough to get the money anyways. And realize that people who say they are interested a lot of the times really aren't - or at least they're only curouis at best. You're also going to have people actually place orders but then change their minds. Finally, do yourself and your customers a favor; let scott or I read any letters or emails that you have ANY doubts about. I'll do anything you want me to do and I'm sure Scott will second that. And for gods sake, NEVER downplay your english ability to your customers - always be confident even when you are clueless. Don't do a lot of emailing back and forth because it makes you look very confused. Say something like "let me consult with my translators (me and scott lol) so we both understand eachother". Again, if you need any help at all private message me here (I think your email shows up in my spam/junk box). It may take me a few days to write you a DETAILED reply, BUT I WILL DO IT. |

But i will ask you both when i need....
One famous BR guy just confirmed me some minutes ago....and his english is somewhat very clear/easy to understand for me.
I still don't know how to copy/send someone's email, but i will try....

Sebastian, I believe you absolutely MUST get payment- and make sure the payment is good- before you ship something. That is the only way you will avoid being ripped off, as well as the only way you can be sure someone is serious.
Talking to your bank about payment methods is a very good idea. You may find also that getting set up to accept credit cards is more possible than you think.
As far as shipping your product, you know about UPS, but check out DHL. DHL has been primarily an overseas shipper, and they're very familiar with shipping regs, etc. In the US, the US Postal Service has surprisingly reasonable overseas shipping, but I don't know if you can get access to the US Postal Service in your country.
And, I too will be glad to help you with the English slang.

Problem is, i don't want to sound "negative" by asking them the payment first....i still a newbie too in the BenchRest community. Other thing is, i live remote from USA. I think that's the problem.
Btw, i feel that i can trust most competitive shooters, or wellknown shooters, and i offer that way to show my good will. I believe they are men with honour.
My intention is to whom that i'm not familiar with, and/or for ones that seem aren't regular shooters/shoot competitively in benchrest...
In fact, i usually ask such down payment or written contract with my new interior customers. (not for my old customers that i can trust). But it's hard to ask foreign country man to me, to be honest.
For instance, if you (say in this case) interested with my stuff (know the stuff, the price, the shipping cost would be etc), and i ask you the payment first (even before i start, or finish the job)...do/will you accept to send money/such payment to me? (which is you don't know the rest of me).........just for my reference.
I can do that easily from my side because US's suppliers are reliable in my experience. (i did that for some times before when order some stuffs)...i just don't know from US's side....?

My thought is this...AFTER i send my first run production next month, and get more "famous", or faithfull, i may probably ask the payment, or such deposit first.
I also plan to have a Dealer in the US to make the things easier....it still in progress now. One guy offers me to be my dealer, but i honestly don't know much about him.
I think i must also have a reliable and famous Dealer...My stuff is especially for serious/benchrest shooters and it's not cheap.
To make it more less expensive to the customer's hand, i can send one container (of about 20 rests to the Dealer - per shipment, per two or three months. Depends.
Maybe by L/C, or whatever, as long as the dealer pay me. (i'm a "perfectionist" for technical stuffs/things etc, but not for merchandizing).
UPS International is the least expensive carrier i found, so far. They also secure, fast delivery, and has Trracking/Reference Number, too. (we can track the shipment, the stuff transit where now etc).
DHL is more expensive here. Also for our local Airmail/Post office. I have already checked them.
I'm not sure if there is USPS here...but i do recieved some things via USPS before.....will check more.
I will also check my banks/staffs to ask things.........seb.

Ok, I'll give you a good example. Your 1st sentance is alright. You don't know the answer but you clearly get to the point (excluding the ...lol, which you obvouis wouldn't write). It is well written. The rest of that quote is not as I call "confident". Do you see the difference? And to answer your other question, I don't think people in the US are going to be offended if you request payment prior to shipment. THIS IS EXPECTED IN THE US. You simply have to make a clear policy statement that your customers have access to. Just an example: Make it clear upfront that payment is expected when they order the product (they can email you with the order and send the money in the mail). Once the order is recieved via email, you will begin the project and it is expected to take 4-8 weeks to complete. You will ship once you are finished and payment is recieved. If you can afford to do so, make 12-20 rests in advance. This will shorten the customer's wait time considerably. Don't be worried about pissing people off with your policy. So long as your policy is made in advance and clear, it should not be a problem (although people in the US are a bunch of demanding bastards who want everything free. I love how the first sentance that comes out of people's mouths are "that's false advertisement". People here are so stupid they don't even know what that real law actually means). Don't you dare trust anyone...in which case you shouldn't trust me...in which case you should trust people...oh god...I'm confused... |
