I would think today all that old rot gut stuff would be bio-fuel today and long gone from the bottle shops?

For the real fine dinners I go all the way - Michelob. It goes well with almost everything and you save money cause you don't have to order a meal deal.

;D Ok, I'm all messed up. I took a bottle of Jakob Demmer Riesling and a bottle of Fetzer Vinyards Gewurztraminer wines. Both were AWSOME. Both were a sweet wine but the Riesling was the dryer of the two and the other the sweet. With the Mostaccioli Quatro Chicken Formaggio Steamed Scallop Pettit Squash the Riesling was awsome. Not so dry that it made you pucker up but just a nice mellow semi sweet wine. Then the Triple Chocolate Tiramisu came along. Holly sweet whoever was that awsome along with the Gewurztraiminer which is a sweet wine but not so sweet that it over powered the Tiramisu. I think I drank most of the Riesling and 3/4 of the Gewurtraminer and I am totally full and totally toast. Right now I'm in heaven. Thanks Scott for the Riesling. It fit perfect.

I'm quoting my brother.
"$3.99 for a bottle of wine? God that's expensive. Why? Oh I see, it's French --- Sutter Home."
I agree, Amberbock or regular Mich is worth the buy on occasion. If you really like the dark beers, I would recomend George Killians Irish Red.

Next month its going to be German night. So beer will fit right in. ;D Each month a bunch of us get together and someone gets to cook up a storm. The rest of us just have to bring our own drinks. We all try to match up the dinner with the correct wine, maybe not of the country or orgin for the food but what wine matches the food. Were given the menu ahead of time so it shouldn't be a problem but its fun trying to figure it out. We will see what the German menu is going to be.
