I have had my new (to me) Dodge Magnum about a month. I drove the wife's 2004 Suburban yesterday. A month ago, the suburban was roomy to drive, pretty peppy, and handled pretty good. Yesterday it was cramped, had body roll anough to make me think about getting motion sick, and was generally a sluggish road whale to me. I just think it's interesting how quick my sence of 'normal' adjusted to the new... zippy car. Jabba

Yep. I was driving a rental car the other week and kept reaching for the gears on the steering column instead of between the seats. Then I got my truck back and I kept reaching between the seats

I agree Jabba. My s-10 is a 5 speed and the wifes voyager is auto. I get frustrated looking for the Clutch.

Jabba:
Are you implying that the Suburban was cramped after driving that Magnum? I would think you could put that Magnum in the cargo area of the Suburban and still have lots of room to spare.

I still put the foot on the brake petal when in the passanger seat if I feel the car needs to stop.

I am not implying anything. I am flat out saying that. There is more room for me from a drivers perspective in the Magnum than in the Suburban. There is simply more leg room and I can get further away from the steering wheel in the Magnum than the Burb. Jabba

I remember way back with my first car, a Chevy Vega with a 4 speed. I walked out of the house, in a hurry to get somewhere, and found I had a flat tire. I went back in and asked Dad for the Olds and he threw me the keys. I started up the road and right in front of the local watering hole a car pulled out in front of me. I put my left foot on the clutch to downshift.... Whoa ! Mashed that big power brake pedal hard, locked 'em all up and scared the crap out of myself until I realized what happened.... ;D ;D

I took Drivers ED in a brand new 67 Plymoth the power steering and power brakes were a lot more sensitive than on newer cars. It really took a much more sensitive touch than driving students could manage. It's a wonder we did'nt put the teacher through the windshield? Shortly after I got my drivers licese I was running 60 mph down a gravel road in my 55 Mercury Montclair 2dr hardtop(that one was sweet) and with the fast power steering it got to fishtailing pretty bad. I pulled about the stupidist stunt I could have and touched the power brakes. Did a full donut before it came to a stop. Must have been an angel on my sholder cause it sure was not driving skill that saved me that time.
