My wife drives one. I do not like it. It's too big, too long, hard to park, and hard to work on under the hood. But... she likes it, and the price was right on it.
Now the bad news... 9.5-11.5 MPG. Day in/out, city or highway. Short of taking a bath on it and going back to a GM, anyone got any ideas?
It's a 2005 and last I checked they did not make a chip for it yet. It's different than the 2004 and before as well.

My stepbrother has a V-10 Excursion, he CLAIMS 17mpg with it, when he went from Missouri to Utah. That's all flatground highway driving, to be sure, but I always thought he was fullofit, too. I told him to paint it yellow and sell it to the school district. He insisted on buying it for the wife, and she didn't want it, and doesn't like it. I noted that they bought two old Cougars for everyday driving around, so I doubt his mileage claims are anywhere close.

There is a reason that Ford dealers' special of the week is the pickup or suv with the v-10 in it. Sorry Jabba, I think getting 10 mpg is about tops with that rig. Since you are getting better than that consider bragging about it. I have heard they are a comfortable ride. As far as the Ford V-10 goes, if you gotta ask what kind of mileage it gets you probably can't afford it - IMO.

It's a nice car. I don't like it but the ol'lady does.
She get's 11 or so. city or highway. We drive my S-10 most of the time.
I'd like to get 13 or 14. But we only drive it about 8K miles a year.

We had a guy that used to work by us with a V-10. He stated it had a lot of benefits for him but one of them was NOT gas mileage. He said it varied from 9-11mpg depending on what or if he was hauling. I guess the best tip is try and go downhill BOTH ways.

hmm...yeah I got tip. Get rid of it lol
My guess is she doesn't actually need it. Talk her into a explorer (gets about 18) or a ford escape which gets to 25 easy.

You note correctly. ;D Ford's da bomb Someone wants to buy a GM product, that's fine --- I have no real problem with that. Anything other than Ford and GM - sucks IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion). Everyone's saying - what about dodge It's not so much that dodge sucks (nowadays) but that every Ram owner I've ever known was an arrogant p***K. Clear

Thing is... I do need a big rig ocassionally to pull a trailer. I really liked our Suburban better than the Ford. The Excursion is pretty nice. I'd like to get out of it, but frankly, once a woman gets into a BIG SUV like that, you can't PRY them out of it. My wife has been involved in a couple of nasty car accidents. One her fault and one not. She feels a lot safer in the big car. I do not begrudge her that. And I won't force her out of it. She makes better money than I do, so who am I to tell her what she can drive? Jabba

Red There are people in your neighborhood... It makes me wonder... You sure you don't have an assault rifle or two hidden away?

What are you talking about? I don't have an enemy in the world and I would never dream of doing or saying anything upsetting to anyone.
