for those of you that hunt this might interest you, Ive got one short HOG story that had several witnesses ,two at the shooting site and several more guys on the trip to the local hospital emergency room, FRANK was hunting in the GLADES when ,while sneaking down a muddy full tracks path thru the saw grass he comes up to a large boar hog lying in the muddy tracks, FRANK, whispers to his partner that ("looks like that FULL TRACK ran clean over that old hog without knowing it" ) FRANK walks up to the BOAR ,fully expecting to find its dead but with a 9mm browning high power pistol
in his hand and his 12ga slung over his shoulder. the 9mm is loaded with 95 grain hollow points as FRANK wanted to test them, well FRANK gets into about 10-12 yards when this hog starts to move, so FRANK aims at the hog and fires, in the next few seconds theres a whole lot of squealing, running and kicking on both FRANK and THE HOGS END of the deal and it STOPS ONLY when franks buddy steps in with a 12ga loaded with sabot slugs and shoots the hog at less than 2 feet!
FRANK REQUIRED MID DOUBLE DIDGIT STITCHS in his LEGS as the hog had him down for several seconds durring the exchange of shots from the 9mm and hog bites/tusk slash work on the hogs end, they were luckly within a 1/4 mile of the truck, and they managed to get to a hospital in under 30 minutes but FRANK spend a good part of a week getting the wounds cleaned, anti-biotics and stitches ETC.
FRANK bought a RUGER DOUBLE ACTION 44 mag revolver after that, and sold the 9mm, and he will not approch a hog without it pointed dirrectly at the hogs head, even IF its "DEAD" and that 44 mags loaded hot with 240 grain soft points
now PERSONALLY I PREFER my DAN WESSON 445 SUPER MAG as it throws a 300 hard cast bullet at 1550fps vs the 240 grain in the 44 mag at about 1200fps
