I would say that goes pretty much along with most deer "type" species in america. One thing I do see is the bigger neck as compared to a deer or antalope. On the smaller animals, a neck shot is a guarantee so long as you hit the thing. With an elk sized animal, a neck shot isnt so sure because the vitals are smaller while the bullet hole is the same if not smaller (due to controlled expansion).

Also on elk that hair thing can help people misjudge and miss on the neck-seen it happen even at shorter ranges.
