if you have a 45/70 or 450 marlin, even a 458 win,you may want to get in on buying some of these bullets,
sure! Ive used them for ammo I loaded for several guys in camp, for use on both ELK and DEER , its a great deer bullet, knocks thier socks off as they say, Ive loaded them to about 1700fps in my marlin 1895 ,over 46 grains of RL 7 and for other guys in camp with those 45/70 lever rifles, I had zero problems with them on ELK but they do open faster than I personally prefer, now that in no way means they failed,or lost thier jacket,ETC. just that they open really fast.
great for heart/lung shots, but not for shoulder shots or raking angles
their accurate and can be cheap to purchase if you catch them on sale, I tend to buy them in large lots (1000,-2000 at a time) I just a few months ago bought 2000 for my BLR in 450 marlin caliber

btw if you have a 45/70 marlin,
you may want to try these loads with that 405 grn remington bullets
ALL with a 215 federal primer
ALL seated out to the ABSOLUTE max lenght that functions flawlessly in the rifle your useing
39 grains of IMR 4198
48 grains of IMR 3031
50 grains of H-4895
keep in mind the recoil level your comfortable with absorbing1 and use a good reciol pad on the rifle and one sewn into your vest sure helps, get the wife or girl friend to sew one inside your vest to protect your shoulder
