how many of you gentelmen prefer the carbine length rifles to the full standard size and why" while I spend alot of time hauling my 26" barrel weatherby 9lb- 10lb 340 mag over steep parts of calorado, I find myself occasionally swapping to my 375 H&H sako and 358 win BLR sometimes simply because they are much easier to handle and lighter to carry after a few days when the ELK retreat into the dense timbered slopes. and stalking becomes comon how about you gentelmen?? now Im not asking about CARTRIDGE CHOICES HERE! Im asking about the TYPE and SIZE CARBINE/RIFLE you prefer and weight/length, some of the guys I normally hunt with bring two rifles also, we mostly start with long range bolt rifles in the heavier calibers, and some years we stick to them, but by the end of the season ,and depending on conditions its not unknown for a few of us to be useing 35 whelen slide action,or 308 or 358 win lever action rifles or some other lighter choice in rifles/carbines? even 45/70 marlins are used frequently , simply because ranges tend to remain under 250 yards maximum where I hunt. how about you guys?
