After months of wieghing out different gun options, I finally said forget it and walked out of the bait/archery shop today with a new bow. Diamond/Bowtech Justice package for $620 out the door. Guy threw in kisser button, a tubeless peep, swapped out the carbon Wisker Bisquit for the aluminum one, and tossed in a half dozen inserts and nocks for my current arrows. Yippie ;D

God my luck sucks 1. It took me 3 weeks to talk to the company to get a 27in draw module 2. The company locktited the old module in and my archery guy broke two allen wrenchs before he had to drill it out. 3. I get it home and set it outside. After dark I went out to bring it in. I damn near stepped on a opposeum that was right underneath the step and I fell on the concrete 4. I was playing with it this evening. Drew it back, let it back down slowly, hear a "ping" and the damn string came right off the top wheel and now it needs to be in a bow press. And I might need to get another string if it got pinched too bad

.... $620.00 for a bow.....Holy Crap! This wouldn't be bad for most guys....but Red, you never paid that much for any three guns you own.... ;D .... You're the guy who thinks Rugers are too expensive. What we have here is an extreme contradiction from your normal spending habits. I think you should lie down, take your temperature and have your blood pressure checked....something has gone awry.... ;D ;D

That aint gonna happen with a compound bow. but to reds credit he will use this 100 times more than any of his rifles.

Best limbsaver I know is leave the bow home and shoot a gun. No tired limbs. It sure would be sumthin' to see Red shooting carp on the river with a 600 dollar bow.

........... It sure would be sumthin' to see Red shooting carp on the river with a 600 dollar bow. ;D ;D ;D ...... or maybe flinging arrows at an unidentified swimming critter..... ;D Imagine the tears after Red shoots about four arrows in the water.....then realizes that each arrow was worth about $10.00.... ;D ;D

not all of the mathews owners are arrogant, just the rich s.o.b's. some of them are just hard working serious hunters that saved their asses off so they could buy a serious piece of equipment. my buddy who bought one is a glazer and as down to earth as anyone. but the engineer at work who bought the high dollar hoyt is exactly of which you speak of. all i know it's a good thing the indians didn't have compound boys or we all would have been playing "indians & cowboys" instead of "cowboy & indians" as a kid.

10 bucks for an arrow. Screw that, I shoot Gamegetter II's lol ....... Of course..... ...What was I thinking? That's about like having a custom rifle built, then shooting military surplus ammo, with the points filed off, on your next deer hunt..... ;D

Speaking of arrogant bowhunters, I've got a good story. ..... Years ago, probably about 25 to be exact, long before Matthews and Hoyt were the high class bows, the upper crust of archery seemed to favor Gold Eagle and Martin Bows. Us working class shot Bear and Brownings. This was long before the day of overdraws and lightweight carbon arrows. The Holy Grail of bow speed was a lumbering 200 fps. Well, me and a buddy ventured down to eastern PA to a big shindig at Bowhunters Warehouse. It was a big show, all the manufacturers were there and it had a 3D range, a novelty at the time, lots of target batts to try out the latest greatest bows, and a chronograph. For a buck or two you could see how fast your bow was shooting. The snobs that day had Gold Eagles and most seemed to favor pull weights around 70#. They looked down their noses at my Browning Nomad and my buddy's Bear while we followed 3 or 4 heavy pull Gold Eagles around the 3D range. A little later we just lucked into the chrony line just in front of these arrogant a**holes. One of them was snickering at my arrows, said he never heard of them, I was shooting Graphlex shafts, a graphite fiberglass mixture known for indestructibility but not for being lightweight. My Nomad was set at a whopping 54 lbs pull. Well I stepped up to the chrony and proceeded to clock two arrows, one at 205 fps and one at 207 fps. The Gold Eagle boys stepped up, grunted and groaned and let fly with the latest shaft technology Easton had at that time. .... ;D ;D ;D None of the three broke 190 fps and one was only in the high 170's .... ;D ;D .... Of course they were making comments about the cheap chronograph and such, but the guy running the Chrony snickered and told him that the only bows that had broken 200 fps that day were Brownings and PSE's. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I bought my Browning at a Bass Pro Shop sale for $79.95. As I recall a fancy Gold Eagle like they were shooting was about $250.00 at the time. I remember how good that first cold beer tasted at our first watering hole stop on the way home.... ;D ;D
