I'm going with Vortex 2 blade mechanicals again this year. Fairly cheap at $26, flys straight, and produces a 2 1/2 inch cut My brother has had good results with them the last 3 or 4 years and it did a good job on my deer last year too.

Wasp Hi Tech Hammer SST's are super sharp, fly great and penetrate well. I shoot the 125 gr 3 blade out of my Mathews Conquest III.

Well I'm going with what I've been using most of the 25 years I've been bowhunting, 145 grain Bear Razor heads. They fly like the're radio controlled.. Later ssettle

Hi ssettle
Do you shoot those big (I got a brain fart right now so forgive me...) one piece, two blade bears? I shot those a few years ago. Seemed to be ok until it crossed the 20 yard mark - then who knows where they would go.

I seriously doubt ILL every use a MECHANICAL BROADHEAD after seeing two totally differant designs fail miserably and helping track two ELK hit with them, I won,t name the brands but one had two extra long blades (one broke clean off) and one has three blades of which one failed to open, now to be fair IVE seen several that worked exactly as advertized also personally Ive used MUZZYs, or very similar design cut on contact heads mostly the lower design, but Id swapped to the upper ones I shoot a jennings unistar 80lb compound with a 32" draw and 32" carbon arrows with plastic vanes btw a simple TEST IF YOULL USE MECHANICAL HEADS. hang several layers of old wet carpet over a sheet of 1/4 plywood infront of your target backer to simulate hide, and ribs and follow that with layer of cardboard followed by 4" of styrofoam to simulate lungs to see the trace the blades make passing thru, and shoot thru them from a 30-40 degree raking angle, like youll use them driving an arrow in under the ribs from a rear angle raking shot at times in the field, NOT from a 90 degree strait on stance, if the arrow shifts direction violently on impact or the blades fail to open evenly throw them in the trash
most mechanical work great on a 90 degree impact but a few fail to work flawlessly at raking angles, then try the same test with a good cut on contact head, and notice the differance in depth of penetration
