Our duck season officially opens tomorrow... for all ducks... not just teal..
I'm hunting a marsh with a 20 acre pond in the middle of it... yesterday I was up that way and thought I'd take a look to see if there was anything sitting on the water... I rounded the bend and to my surprise the pond was FULL of ducks ... ALL KINDS OF DUCKS... Black dux, mallards, teal, widgeons, wood dux... just all kinds ... I think (by taking a quick head count) there had to be 800 to 900 dux sitting on that pond... MAN O MAN, I can't wait until the morning ...
Hopefully, I will be able to post up some pics when I get back home...

Opening day went great .. we limited out (15 birds) in about an hour ... you couldn't have wanted a better duck hunting day .. wind blowing 20 mph out of the North East... raining... a slight cold front ... The tally went 8 Drake Mallards, 3 Widgeons, 3 Shovelers & 1 Drake Black Duck...
It's funny how things work... slaughtered them critters on Friday and went back Saturday figuring to do the same thing... and we saw ZIP.... not a bird anywhere.... same weather conditions, same water, but not a bird in the pond... go figger...
Anyway, we have till Saturday to shoot them again... we're going to wait until Saturday morning to try them again ... maybe we just shot them out and they were a little scared to come back the next day ... a week should bring them back into the pond.. (hopefully)...
Sorry, but I didn't get any pics... when I was transferring them from the camera to the computer, I guess I hit the wrong button and they didn't transfer.. they just erased.. I hope to get some Saturday for you...

DD ... I breast them out .. then wrap a piece of bacon around them .. pin the bacon on with a tooth pick.. salt and pepper... and either grill or bake them in a 350º oven for about 25 minutes... I'm not one for a lot of sauces... I like the taste of duck ...
The only waterfowl I marinade is the "Sky Carp" (snow goose)... they tend to taste like swamp mud... so I'll take some teryaki sauce, soy sauce, onions and garlic and marinade them over night.. then turn up the grill full force and give them a good scorching ... I'll also take the marinade and baist them continually while they're cooking....
