Well, here we go guys. We're on our way out to find some birds! Jim and Bob finally made it here last night and we stayed up way too long drinking beers and toasting the hunt with glasses of Irish whiskey. After 3 full hours of sleep we are ready to hit the fields! ;D We'll report back later with news of the hunt CHEERS!!

Ya they had to call me last night too before they went to bed. I'm trying to figure out who is driving after 3 hrs sleep. Me I would of taken the keys for at least 8 hrs. Plus Donnie was telling them about every bad thing that happend to he and I. Couldn't hardly understand them due to all the laughing. Anyway, good luck guys and I hope you take home a load of birds.

hey, JimH here. it was cold, dang cold, -3 at start of the morning. we had about 12" of snow plus all that grass and corn stalks to stomp through and it beat the crap out of all of us. after a long hard day full effort hunt out of the 4 of us we ended up with (0) birds. well we did end up shooting at a couple of quail at the end of the day but they were all misses, except i did wing a pole. don did take a somewhat shallow but very cold swim this morning. ended up getting water down his boot and a wet rear end. he is one tough hunter, since he had no extra socks he bought two loafs of bread, threw the bread away and used the plastic bags over his feet to keep then dry and the wet wool socks back on. we hunted the rest of the day with donnie not missing a beat. for those who don't know me i'm a bit verticaly challenged, this high snow drifts where killing me. i couldn't get my feet high enough to get through most of it and i'm wiped. we will chow down a little bit here and have a frosty one or two (might leave the wiskey alone tonight) and we're back up at 4:00 am to start all over. my buddy bob is wondering why he signed up for this. :-)

O K First off let me say that as Jim wrote that he was still in his thermal underwear. Jim feels justified because he is the only one of us to hit anything yesterday. (the telephone pole) When I came downstairs this A.M Jim was watching Girls Gone Wild ads on my TV. The deep powder we got in Iowa came the night Bob and Jim arrived and is really causin us hell, Birds are pulled out of the sloughs and seem to be hiding in sparse cover in the corn fields which has made killing them REALLY tough. Today we are trying plan B which is to hunt the food source and hopefully catch the birds snoozing. We spent yesterday afternoon driving back roads looking at birds that had suddenly materialized in places they hadn't been all day. We glassed a lot of deer and let our aching muscles rest for a bit. (mostly Jims) SOOOO................Off we go again after Bob and I spent a bit of time showing Jim pictures of roosters and letting him see the differance between birds and telephone poles. (I think he's got it now) ;D
