Well, it's almost "tax refund" time... I've got a couple hundred bucks I can blow on one of my hobbies.... I've already decided on a new Leupold rifle scope for my O6... but now the big ticket item.... What-cha think?

There was a time I wanted a .410 shotgun to kill rabbits.... a couple years ago I picked up a Remington Express in .410 and used it ONCE ... I couldn't kill a rabbit with that dam thing no matter what I did... I'betcha I shot at 10 rabbits and never hit one... I took it out and tried breaking some clays with it... nothing ... I shot 4 boxes of shells through that thing and I don't think I ever hit a thing.... so... I traded it on a 20 ga ... same model... I don't have any problem hitting what I'm aiming at with it... I'm no expert but it seems to me that a 28 ga is not much better then a .410... If I were to buy something other then a 20 ga, I think it would be a 16ga .. but they don't make this gun in 16.... How good do you think a 28 ga would be on ducks and do you think they make "non-toxic" shot for it?

I don't think the 28 would be my choice for waterfowl Bubba. The 20 is about as far down the ladder as one would want to go there..IMHO
But for bunnies and upland birds, I think the 28 would be "Sweet". I think that the 28 would provide you with better patterns than the .410 did.
But, 20 or 28 gauge, I think that Spartan will make a good addition to your arsenal.

Jim, it's a Remington Import made in Russia... it's called the Remington Spartan.... The model is SPR210... they make them in all blue and a stage coach model .... I just like that nickle receiver....

There are two gauges of shotguns that pattern way better than they actually should for the gauge and thats the 28 gauge and the 16 gauge. You can buy shells for the 28 gauge that will just about match any 20 gauge load on the market for load weight and volocity. Same with the 16 gauge vs the 12 gauge. If you stay in 2 3/4" loadings. Plus they will both pattern better with even lighter loads than the gauge above them. Now with all that said, I still pick the 20 gauge and the 12 gauge for One Huge Reason. Money. I can shoot either the 20 gauge or the 12 gauge way cheaper than the gauge below each respective gauge. Money means a lot and I would much rather shoot one gauge higher and pay less for shells as I can buy more shells to shoot which means more fun. Good enough reason for this tightwad. Enjoy your gun Bubba and if you can't find one give me a call.

Thanks Bill, I may have to do that if I can't get one of these local guys to order me one. The problem is, I will have to pay full retail for it... My gun dealer (the guy that cut me some great deals over the years) took off and there's only one store around now.... I figure my cut of our tax return will buy me my scope, the shotgun and I'll have a few bucks left over pay a bill balance and blow on some shells and clays... I like taxtime... LOL...
