I'm looking for opinions on the Stevens 411 SXS... anyone have any experience with them? Are they tight fitting SXS's? Just curious.
Tax return season will be here soon and it's time to look for another shotgun.... I saw an article on this one somewhere and they said "for the money" it's a great upland shotgun.... What do you think?

Bubba, I agree can't beat it for the money. Just a good honest gun.

If memory serves me, I think the new Savage/Stevens doubles are made by Baikal. If that's the case, the ought to be made like a tank.
Yeah, I'm back. Sure had a hard time finding you guys.

Hey there Bubba ~
I don't figure on you goin' wrong on the 411's. I love my 311's & the 20 ga. 411 of my cuzin's handled just as nice. Your tax money will be well spent. Dovehunter is correct them being made in Russia. To me that isn't a problem. The russian made firearms aren't useually the nicest lookin' guns, but you can count on a reliable & sturdy firearm. That is important for a field gun moreso then pretty wood.

I think they are a rugged and dependable gun Bubba, but I'm pretty sure they only come in 12 gauge. I thought you were a converted 20 gauge man now.

Oh, man... 54, you're right. I checked the Savage/Stevens web site and they DO only come in 12 ga. Real Bummer!!! I want a 20. Stumpy... you say the 311 is a 20? Maybe, I'll go with that.... As far as Baikal goes, I love my O/U in 20ga. I didn't know they were making these guns too. That only reinforces my thoughts on buying one.

The 311 is an older model Bubba. You may find one on the used gun market, but 20's are few and far between.
Another option is the Remington "Spartan" models. I believe they are made by the same company, and they are both reasonably priced and available in 12, 16, 20, 28 and .410 gauge.

That Remington Spartan really looks nice. They have 3 models of S X S's. They're very reasonable too. I've got to have one....
Hey, I wonder how I can get one of my older guns to "Morph" into this new one... hmmmmm.... I wonder.....

I'm not sure about "morphing", Bubba. But I have heard tales of placing two guns in a dark quiet place, such as a closet, and they will magically produce a new gun.... ...At least that's what a friend tells his wife.... ;D ;D

Bubba:
If you can get a Stevens 311 in 20 ga., grab it up quick. I have one and so does my son. They are excellent guns. Admittedly not a thing of beauty but they are made like a tank and should last several life times. Mine has 26" barrels and is choked I.C. and modified and is about as sweet handling a bird gun as you will find.
