Lately I have been gazing upon my Browning Olimpian thats still unfired since 1972. I have been wanting a new SXS and am thinking that the Olimpian could be used to pay for it. Donnie sugested that I get a 16 gauge but I keep looking at the cost of buying shells and have decided against it. Its my thoughts that if I get rid of the Olimpian and my two SXS's that I now have I could swing a pair of guns. A really nice 12 and a 20 gauge. The 16 might edge out the 20 by just a bit in pattern but the 20 is lighter and I shoot it just as well as I do any 12 gauge I have ever owned. Plus IF I can find a lightweight 12 gauge it can pattern better than any 16 I have ever seen. So I'm still in a fix on what to do. I really ate to get rid of the Browning but I just never have been a collector of unfired guns. Better to buy one or two that I will shoot. So whats everyone else think of the problem or is this another Ford/Chevy thing.

Well I sure don't feel sorry for you with those kind of decisions occupying your time... ;D I am thinkin' that I might lean toward the two gun deal. But then again, being a guy who always liked things just a little out of the ordinary, I might go for the 16.....and add a 28 to my arsenal. Come on now Bill, if you use these guns in the field, how much is the cost of ammo gonna hurt? You already have enough 12 gauge guns, take a walk on the wild side. Just think how that 28 gauge would tote on an all day grouse hunt...

And if you do kill something, you'll be so darned proud of yourself, you won't mind cleaning a little game... ;D

Well, as alot of ya already no, I like toting one of my SxS 410's around when scoutin' in heavy brush or when on long hikes. I have often thought about a 28 ga. but they are a bit far & inbetween in my area. I just don't have the access of pickin' as you do Bill. I already have SxS's in 10, 12, 20, & 410"s. I think a 16, 24, or 32 would be a nice added addition to my rack. But I would never knock any of thew others either.

SJ, I have a box of 28 ga shells on hand for about a year now just waiting for a sxs 28 ga to happen in to my rack. I do have a sweet 24ga muzzel loader sxs, it is one of my best shooting sxs

;D Seems to me KLSM54 that Donnie once mentioned something too about me being able to hit a bird. Something like what follows (Actually two comments) #1 comment from the first time we went hunting together. Well get your pretty gun and your pretty clothes and man I hope you shoot as pretty as you look and lets go hunting. #2 comment made prior to our first Wisconsin Ruff Grouse hunt. ;D Now Bill, don't be dissapointed if you don't get a bird your first outing. Within 20 minutes of the beginning of the hunt I had my first bird down and within that same morning after I shot my second bird and its sailing thru the air dead, and Donnie shoots it again in the Butt and I comment about him shooting my dead birds and He turns to Bullseye who was with us and says Man that just isn't Fair No one should get two birds on their first grouse hunt. My guns do alright for themselves. I blame them as I know it isn't me. I still don't know, maybe that Arrietta 557 16/20 gauge two barrel set on a 20 gauge frame might be what I'm needing.

Oh yea. Now that you mentioed Muzzy SxS's, it just dawned on me. I have 16 ga. sxs. It isn't something that sees much use, so it slippped my mind.
