I just found this site and it looks like a place worth a visit from time to time. I like the emphasis on HUNTING firearms and the "no politics" policy.
I am almost 62 years old, grew up in MO hunting small game, turkeys and whitetails, and moved to WY in 1991. My basic approach to hunting any game (unless there is a dog involved) is to stillhunt as taught to me by my grandfather over 50 years ago in NE Arkansas.
Wyoming offers great big game hunting but I miss the opportunity to hunt small game with a minimum of driving. In MO I could drive 20 min., hunt for an hour, and be home 20 min. later. Out West there is a serious investment in driving and walking into hunt areas. That said, I usually tag an antelope, a deer, and an elk each season. As the years roll by it gets a little harder to pack out the meat but I'm still in the game for now.
Recently I have taken a number of big game with a Marlin 444S. For many years my go-to gun was an early Model 700 BDL in '06. I also have a great deal of respect for the versatility of my Rem. 700 Classic in 35 Whelen. At the moment all my centerfires wear low-power scopes but I may put a peep sight back on my Marlin 35 Rem. again this Spring.
Finally, retired from work in public education for many years, I am now an ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming and serve as the Chaplain for Hospice of Laramie. That's a part-time position so I have lots of flexibility to visit grandkids, go to the rifle range, and hunt. Life is good.
