There's always trouble brewing over here. It's a way of life for these folks. If they ain't pissed about something, they ain't happy I think sometimes.

Hello gila moinster,
Nice hearing from you, and good to know you're surviving your ordeal. Maybe if we leave them alone, and let them go at it they'll kill each other off. I guess that's not very nice, but I don't feel nice about our middle east bretheren right now. This nonsense got old in a hurry. Best wishes.

Well, there's different ways to look at it. I have had plenty of opportunity to see how these people are and how they choose to live and most of the time I think we'll never make them civilized in any way. They thrive off of hate. Even the ones that "like" us, seem to hate us just as much. Go figure!

Don't really know right now. Been here for 19 months so far. I'd like to do another year or so if the contract lasts. We never really know. Could send us all home tomorrow for all we know.

Good seeing you again Gila, hope life is treating you good and keeps on doing so. Not sure thats a place I would want to be myself but we do what we have to do to make life work I guess. Maybe someday it will be over with and we can all return to a normal way of living but I really don't think that they will let us. I think that the more people that they can involve in their little pissing constests the happier they are. At least if were over there they arn't over here.

Well, that's one of the reasons I am here. We fight the #$*&%(&^ here on their turf, or we can wait for them to come to us. It's a job, and someone's got to do it.

Boy, those people really know how to carry a grudge. I still remember the first time one of them referred to me as a "crusader" (in Saudi Arabia). The crusades have been over for 900 years. It didn't matter to him. Once a crusader always a crusader. I'd never seen people who could hate so fiercely. Finish your tour then get back here away from those loonies. Best wishes.

It's a different culture. Can't say it's right or wrong - it's just different.
With all the different cultures, societies, nations throughout history everyone's on a different timeframe pace. The ancient Romans had technology comparible to the US in the 1800's. Tribes in the rainforest still have the same life they had 2000 years ago. And yes, the Crusades happened many hundreds of years ago...and a similar thing is happening now only with a different religion.
I think it's bias to say that cultures are right or wrong. What is "wrong" to undustrialized nations might be "right" to 3rd world countries and other nations could care less. I don't think it's fair for one culture to judge the actions of another because they don't understand them.
