Today I did a first and had to run for an extra permit real quick. I had taken a friend to the hospital with my Dad and when we were done driving home I took him to our turkey blind in case I couldn't hunt tomorrow. The Blind is on a farm just outside town and the lady who owns the place wants to get rid of some of the turkeys. She had 50 in her yard the other day. I showed Dad the blind as we drove in the yard and he said NO WAY will you see a turkey right next to the barn we need to move the blind. About this time a whole troop, posse, pack BIG DAMN BUNCH of turkeys parades out from behind the barn and then turn and head back. Dad is sitting there with his eyes buggin out sayin'" Geez there must have been 20 toms!!!". I said I'll check and I grabbed the old B/P double that i used for rabbits this fall and stuffed 2 brass cases into the gun and walked around the barn. As the flock heads out here are two toms about 20# fighing with each other and they don't even run. When the biggest ups his head i let fly and darned if the pattern at 20-25 yards didn't spread enough and one turkey dropped at the shot and one started floppin' away. I had to finish him off and Dad made me get another permit 'cause he want's to kill his own, Da##it.
I will send pictures to Red of Dad and Clyde holding the birds.

and a Vernier sight. It's marked up to twelve-hundred yards. This one shoots a mite further.

That's the way it happens sometimes. It reminded me of a similar situation many years ago and i started laughing just before I read the part about the second one flopping off. I knew what was coming.. Thanks for telling the story.. Oh, congratulations! ;D

Nice goin' twomoons..... Imagine that, two gobblers with one shot. No new fangled heavier than lead shot, no 3-1/2" superduperwhizzbangultramag shells, no Turkinator ventilated choke tubes. Probably not camoed up in super stealth 3D super invisibilty turkey camo, from head to toe, either...... ;D ;D ;D What would the "experts" have to say about this?..... ;D ;D

Well I have to admit that these were pretty tame turkeys, the lady who owns the place tries to chase them off with a broom and next day they are right back. At least I didn't bull dog 'em.
