I picked up this new shotgun shooting stick the other day at bass pro for 17-20 bucks. www.hunterspec.com/Updateable/update_display.cfm?pageID=1906&categoryID=33The concept of it is very good and it is suprisingly solid. I hate the "sling" that it comes with. It's suppost to go behind your neck and hold the butt of the gun in place near your shoulder. The darn thing about choked me I'm going to play around with it a little more before deciding that it's either great or "broken" and get my money back.

I did sneak outside and shot a turkey mag at 45 yards. Even with the extra tension on the barrel, the gun produced a lethal kill. So I don't think "pattern movement" is going to be a concern.

That thing looks like it might work for turkey hunting. Red, please give us a field report after you get some experience with it.

Red ~ When does your turkey season start out there? I know that there are some hugh toms runnin the perimeter around the mine. I have seen several that where in the 8" to 10" range easy. I figured I would get a few pic's on my way home this morning, but the dryer broke down & I really didn't want to shovel 20-30 ton of sand just to stay on the clock. So I left at 2:00 this morning ;D. Pic's will wait. I took a few pic's the other mornin comin home of 12 deer out in this same field, but there was to much overcast I guess & they didn't even pic up the deer. I did drop the camera & got a cock-eyed shot of the side of my ugly mug.

It starts at like the 20-25th of april. I'm not for sure on the date exactly but it runs for 3 weekends.
It's been in the 60's here a lot the last month and the turkeys are ready to go. We've had a big snow and some more cold weather last week so I hope it slows them down.
I'll use it during the season (I can always take it off in about 10 seconds if it sucks. It's not so much of a shooting rest as it's simply "hands free" and knee saver. I often find myself in an awkward painfull position after an hour of resting the gun on my knee. I think with this rest I'm going to be able to sit upright a little better.
The thing that's going to be hard is balancing this thing on unlevel ground.

Well I can't say it was defective, but it was returned as such ;D It's a piece of marketing junk. The thing was made well and I can't complain about it's quality. The thing's just a bad idea and a big inconvience. It's one thing if you know a bird is comming from this direction and you know it's going to be right there at a specific spot. On unlevel ground, it sits very awkward and if the ground infront of you is unlevel you could find yourself not being able to shoot b/c the rest is too high or low. Perhaps the the only advantage would be in a blind were you are sitting in a camp chair. I would prefer a standard set of shooting sticks though... It's defiantly not a buy.
