There are about 5 of those guns at the store right now. Not sure of the calibers but 3 are Weatherbys 1 a Witcheta and 1 is a Rem xp and of course there is a TC Encore. Awsome wepons. The XP with the laminated thunmbhole in .308 would be a hoot except for the muzzle break. I'd need about 3 pair of earplugs or the ringing in my ears would sound like big ben rather than crickets.

I have the 454 in a Ruger 9 1/2" tube. The recoil in the 454 is alot higher to me than my 14" 45-70 if I keep the loads in the trapdoor load ranges. I loaded 5 rounds last year with 500 gr hornady rn bullets and heavy load of #7 powder. Man that load really got my attention 3 of the 5 are still on my loading bench.I am going to pull the bullets I think thats too much for the gun and me.I will stick with the 300-405 grain bullets.

Bill, The Weatherby SP's are overated price wise IMO. Depending on the type of wichita action and it's caliber that could be a fun one to have. The XP (center-grip or rear grip repeater) will always have a sweet spot near my heart. They are my favorite SP (Specialty Pistol) ;D

Wheelgun, Sounds like you have had a lot of success with handgun hunting-Congrats! You going to take an elk w/a handgun next? I was planning on trying but my income was cut in half last year so money is a little tight right now.I shot a small bull in Colorado few years ago with a rifle.I may try New Mexico in a couple of years with the 375 JDJ. I do have sweet place to hunt whitetail this year some really nice bucks.
