Hey
How's that marlin 17hmr shoot at 50-100 yards? I'm thinking of picking me up one in the next month or so.

Red in all honisty that would be the best choice for the $ The higher piced ones can't shoot any better Red. Mine will grupe 5 shots most all touching or better out to nearly 200yds, My ejector has after more than 1000 rounds broke a small corner off and needs a new one. It just clips over the bolt But two moons won't order me just a ejector till he has a biger order for freight cost? seems to me paying the freight would be better than my best gun being down? I have a Tasco scope on mine and like it too

Bounce couldn't of said it any better than I could of. (boy that didn't come out right for some reason) In the S.S. Laminated Varmit model it just don't get much better than that. It comes with weaver bases (also has a grouved reciver) but use the weavers as its a lot more stable and can handle a decent set of rings that way. I'm not much of a lover of BSA scopes but they make the sweet 17 scope in a 4X12X40 that has a turrent on top graduated from 100 yds out to 400 yds and once the ring is set right when the scope is sighted in works great. The price is about $129 though and I think thats about double what its worth as the scope glass is really no better than a $40 Simmons. But it has an AO which helps with the paralex problem. They also make it in a 4X32 but that sucker should be named the Hover. It sucks. You can buy the 4X12X44 W/AO Tracker scope with the AO on it for about $69 and actually is a pretty good scope for what your paying for. Or you can just go buy a Simmons or Tasco 3X9X40 for a bit less sometimes and be happy. ;D

red, if/when you get one let me know how it shoots, that little .17 and a muzzle loader on the next items on my hit list. the new savage rimfire rifles are comming with the accu trigger this year for what ever that my be worth to ya. but the rumblings i've heard the last two years in the rimfires is that the marlin's as a whole seem to shoot the best out of the box.(in that price range)

This is from the marlin Wesite.... Three new rimfire bolt action rifles are also being added to the line, all with T-900 trigger systems, a newly redesigned black synthetic stock with classic lines, molded-in checkering, and swivel studs.
The first Marlin in 17HMR to be offered with a sporter barrel is designated the Model 917. It features a 7-shot clip magazine.
Another new bolt action 17HMR features a 22” varmint barrel. The new Model 917VR also has a 7-shot clip magazine.
And the extremely popular Model 925 bolt action 22 is now available in a new version, the Model 925R, with a sporter barrel and a 7-shot clip magazine.
*********************************** If the Marlins shoot better than the Savages, one of these models should cure the trigger problem... And you can choose between heavy or light barreled models.

Oooooh, you guys are viscious. It's only Jan 6th. and you're ripping in to poor Red already. You jump on these fragile types, and they just may run off and buy two more Marlins. Oh wait, we're talking Marlin right? Well, maybe he'll go big bucks and get two Mossbergs, HandiRifles, or even the latest from mainland China. If there's a bargain out there Red will find it, bet on that! Best wishes.
