I finally got my 10/22 Ruger put together. Carbolite HB stock, Butler Creek carbon fiber/stainless steel barrel. Volquartson trigger parts, Weaver scope base, Warne Rings and a Bushnell 2.5X scope. Now all I need to do is to get out and get it sighted in and go shoot some squirrils. I think I'm going to try out some of the Wolf Target ammo and see how it shoots with it. Anyone ever tried it. I have heard it shoots good but never did try it and find out.

Oh Yeah, You definately need to try the Wolf MT. I have yet to see the rifle that won`t shoot that very well. I tried some RWS @ around $10 a box and it did not shoot enough better than Wolf to justify the expense unless there was money riding on the shot. Only problem with Wolf is word is out and it`s hard to find around here. You have to know a dealer is getting a case and get your order in early.

I have done testing similar to that, and found it verys from gun to gun & Lot # to Lot # once you find what you and your gun likes, Buy all that lot# you can find for your serious shooting.

I don't care about his ammo testing but sure do want one of his rests he uses I don't know if this gun is going to shoot good or not yet as its never been fired since the day it was test fired at the factory. I did take PBR's experiance to heart though and installed a good Weaver base and Warne Rings. Those things make it all but impossible to shake loose no matter how much I shoot. Seeing as how I am having a quickly increasing grandson population it looks like I better get to building rifles for them. I have access to some really cheap carbolite stocks for this project and have a buddy that can airbrush so it looks like I'm going to be building good shooting 10/22's for a while. What do you think, Should I have their names put on each gun so they don't get them mixed up or just do some wild art on each one making each one differant.

I think you need to adopt my 3 boys as your grandsons.

I'm looking for a Grandpa... ..Heck, I'll even carve my own initials in any gun given to me... ;D On a serious note Bill, be sure and let us know how the gun shoots, and how the Wolf ammo works in it. I prefer Hi-Speed stuff in my 10/22. The standard velocity seems to be a lot dirtier, especially when I break out the 25 shot clips and get serious about plinking... But....I have yet to find a 22 rifle that shoots Hi-Speed ammo as good as standard velocity of it's liking.

Same here KLSM54. But then I like standard volocity ammo so that dosn't make me any diff. I checked the brick price on the Wolf Target Match ammo and its $29.99 per brick. I can live with that.

Bill you probably know this, but will mention it for anyone else to consider. Rimfire ammo can vary quite a bit from one maker to another. And accuracy often does not set in till the barrel has been seasoned by shooting 10-25 rounds of a given ammo down the pipe. Once you have a good coating of the lube in the barrel, then you can see how accurate it is. I can`t give a scientific explaination, but know it to be true. I bet you guys that shoot frontstuffers have notice lube effect too?
