That sounds like a endurace match and no fun at all, I would love to do it once but would leave what you have said to the freaks of PD shooting. I would take a .17 HMR and brick of ammo & when done just go home or find the girls & party!! PD hunting your way bill would get old.... very old ...very fast ...I think? I like Bounce's ideas except mama would skin me alive if I went lookin' for girls

I agree Bounce. I went on a Prarie Dog shoot and shot 60 or 70 rounds through my 22-250 and was more than happy.
Somehow, after shooting much more than 100 or so rounds at critters in a day, the fun would go out of it, for me anyhow.
But, then again, to each his own. I know guys who would love to burn a barrel up in a few days.
As far as lookin' for girl's, I guess lookin' would be okay. Heck I'd just like to take Red along and watch him in action.... ;D ;D

Now that might get a bit interesting KLSM54. Ya I think it would. The numbers I am talking Bounce are for a 3 day PD hunt that were planning. I figure it like this. The guy I am planning on hunting with is totally off the gauge when it comes to shooting. He dosn't care what he shoots at as long as he can shoot. He has a range in his back yard that goes out to 1400 yards in 100 yd incriments. Its nothing for him to burn up 100 rds before work banging away at each mark until he hits them all with ease. I can hang with him out to 600 but after that he is in a class of his own. The guy is awsome. Put a shotgun in his hand and I have him hands down but with a rifle I don't know many that can hang with him but I'm getting there. Whats interesting is the the constant litney that goes along with his shooting and the coaching he does when I'm shooting. You start hearing about things like allowing for the spin of the earth and wind drift and doping the wind. Kind of like when Sabastian begins talking about wind flags and such. The really hard part is estimating yardage. Its not hard to tell on the longer distances when you hit as he has dinner plate size gongs set up hanging on chains and painted to contrast with the ground. He really puts me in awe when he has about 20 deer out in front of him and has 4 tags to fill. He looks like he is shooting targets. His house looks like a house of a person that mounts animal heads for a living. Their everywhere and it don't make any differance what it is its mounted there and he only mounts something when its bigger than the last biggest of the species he has shot. Then if there isn't room it goes to the reloading room or the garage or wherever he can find room. I've shot a lot of ammo in my life but this guy probably shoots more in one year than I have in my whole life. And thats a lot.

well i bought a hadirifle over the weekend, it is a .223 youth and i will be sending the receiver back to be fitted to a 7mm 08 barrel after christmas. i'm half way there. took the gun apart on sat. and sprayed out the inside with break cleaner to de-gunk it. then a light application with the brakefree clp.i'll mount the scope to it and have it sighted in before christmas so when we go out to shoot it we don't have to waste any time.this model has the plastic stock and i already know what retrofit i want to do to it.i'll place a carboard tube the full length of the stock on the inside that is large enough in diameter to place a socket in for the bolt. then i will fill the rest of the void area in the stock with expanding foam. once the foam sets i trim it back and pour some shot into the voided area created by the tube. the foam will give the stock a more solid feel and the shot will add a little mass to help with it's center of gravity.

Hi ,Well I went and looked at a weatherby van guard in .22-250 cal , the deal for here was not too bad , $900 and you got a target to show how accurate they are ,the target had a group that measured 1 1/2 inches , Great group wouldn't yousay ? ..I loaded up various loads using 50 , 52 , 55 grain projetiles and all the powders that had prouduced the goods in other .22-250's I had owned but close to 1 inch was all I could get it also had a big excess head space 12 thou so I took it back They exchanged that one for another , took 3 months also had an 1 1/2 inch target as proof of its accuracy , it also wouldn't group under an inch and had 9 thou excess head space great guns , so I got my money back ..Got hold of a small action martini $60 .00 , take off lightweight Winchester .223 , $25 , put it all together and now have a nice little walk about rifle that cosistantly shoots 1/2 inch with 55gr hornady's which is better than 1 inch of rabbit..The extractor on the martini is one I figured out , easy to make and works fine ..Flint

I hope that isn't what I end up with Flint. From what I have seen of the Kimbers its not the norm though. Sorry to hear about your Wby .22-250 I don't know why but that seems to be the norm rather than the odd for them lately. All except the MOA guns which are gaurentee'd to shoot 1/2 MOA out of the box. I've been looking for a long range rifle for the last year. Not so much for hunting but more to play with just to see what I can make it do. One of the guns I was looking at was the .30-378 Wby. Had a number of chances to pick one up reasonable but I had so many of them getting traded in that it kind of freeked me out. A gun that shoots 1 1/2"s at 100 yds is going to shoot 3"s at 200 etc and that gets worse as it goes on out. With all the .22-250 shooters on here we might have to get together and compair reloading notes.

I met a guy at the range today that had a new Savage varmint rifle in .204Ruger. That's an attractive rascal, pretty heavy though. It seems to hold its own in the wind for firing little 32 and 40gr. bullets, quite accurate. I was surprised though at how loud it is. It seems louder than my .222Rem.Mag. although it's basically the same case and powder level. Anyone here have one yet? Best wishes.

.300 Win Mag, 280 Rem., 338 Win Mag, 270 Win But I like to focus on the rifles I NEED. I need a Model 1886 Win, a 1895 Win, a 44 mag rifle of some sort, acouple of rolling blocks in black powder and a more modern cartridge, a flintlock in .58, besides rifles though I NEED a new couple of revolvers, but am uncertain what calibers. Did I mention I NEED one or two 12 gauge shotguns? Possibly a double barrel and an automatic. OH yes I need a 416 Rigby or something close to it. And yes of course I need a .308 Winchester, perhaps in a SAKo lever action, and then....

is anyone ELSE AMAZED and basically PISSED OFF at the PRICES some manufacturers charge? now, as an example, I recently went to a BASS PRO SHOPS where they had a 30-378 synthetic stainless weatherby for just under $1900, (EXPENSIVE but I can see that as being the upper edge of barely reasonable) but a basically identical WEATHERBY in caliber 416 weatherby costs $5995? ?? now the only differance I see is BORE diam, even the bolts and cases are of similar diam. so why the HUGE differance in PRICE??
