I was in yankton today to see a doctor but did do some shoping and found a pretty good suply of ammo on the shelves, a few holes but not bad. The .22 LR were 3 boxes to a customer though but that was the only restiction I saw but did not take the time to check everything. Prices were not cheap but not in any big rip off either.

I did some research yesterday and found that some of the claims of Homeland Security buying up ammo may have some foundation to it but in the quantity's that they ordered it shouldn't have as much impact into what's going on that it should affect it as much as what we are seeing in the shortages. I did find an order for .45 Long Colt that kind of threw me a bit and for a few other calibers that didn't make any sense unless it is being sold on base PX,s.

They also are buying Hollow points bill witch is an not an offical government round. When supplys are allready low it cost the government little to keep it that way. Yankton gave me hope though??

Homeland security is an octopus sucking up your tax dollars to ne effect and they havee over 100,000 employees who are suppose to qualiify with firearms. %0 rounds each x even 4 times a year x a 3 year supply is a load of ammo. As to hollowpoints all Federal agencies carry hollowpoint ammo for duty and qual. I remember shooting next to the FBI and seeing them crack off 50-100 357 holloowpoints each session while we shot 38 wadcutters that were made of black powder and lead dust.
I don't know what the current orders are but a few years ago the Seal Teams alone were shooting 100,000 rounds of ammo a year. But the big factor isn't government orders but crazy buying by hoarders. I talked to a fellow yesterday who had 6000 rounds of 22's and wanted to buy more, just in case.

I could tell you why but you sheep arn't quite awake yet. NOAA spokesman, Scott Smullen : "Due to a clerical error in the federal business vendor process, a solicitation for ammunition and targets for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement mistakenly identified NOAA’s National Weather Service as the requesting office. The error is being fixed and will soon appear correctly in the electronic federal bidding system. The ammunition is standard issue for many law enforcement agencies and it will be used by 63 NOAA enforcement agents in their twice annual target qualifications and training."

22 rimfire is trickling in at inflated prices with limits here in Indiana. I can now walk in to Rual King and pick it up most days. No bulk pack yet and it does go quick at wal mart.
I got one 100 pack of CCI SV at 8.99 so a dollar over november prices. I got one and a couple of boxes of federal 510 which the buckmark "Sillywet" pistol preffers.
Finally got a spam can of 700 rounds 7.62 x 39 surplus ammo. Not to shoot but to raise the AK's height in the gun safe. Not a bad price at 189. he was asking 200. Gun show walker find.
