Congratulations Don!.... Another bird taken without the aid of a camo shotgun, Hi-tech heavier than lead shot, cigar length chambers, or Super Extra Full Turkinator chokes.... ;D How 'bout some details on your shotgun and load? Here are your pictures......

Well the tom was shot @ about 10 yards w/ the orginal single shot shotgun thats somewhere between a 12ga. and a 16 ga. built I would guess in the mid-1800's. I used equal mearsurments of 85 grains of FFg elephant Black powder and # 6 shot.... And I used the Ol' Yeller slate call I won on here from Red... The bird.... 17 1/2 pounds,9 1/2" beard, 7/8" spurs. Not the biggest I've ever shot, but the biggest w/ a MLer!!! And yes I was back @ the "turkey funnel"...

I know Red is gone but I can't resist.... I went out this afternoon again w/ the Ol' Yeller call and called 1 jake and 4 long beard's in... More importantly I called in an old hen who worked as a decoy for me by bringing in 3 more long beards... Red I hope you have one of these Ol' Yeller calls !!!!!!

I found it very interesting that your bird made the record book for ML shotgun. Kind of makes me wonder about the size of the other birds in the record book as if this one weighed on 18 lbs although a nice sized bird it isn't all that big for the record book. Looks like I'm going to have to get out my ML shotgun some time and try to make the book too. ;D

It just tells me that people don't want the challenge of hunting turkeys w/ a MLer. ;D ;D ;D As I said theres more and bigger birds here... But first Bill; YOU GOT TO GO OUT HUNTIN' I ain't never seen a LIVE turkey strutting around inside of Cabela's yet........

Red I hope you have one of these Ol' Yeller calls !!!!!! My brother has that call, so that's how I knew it was good. I don't have one - but I have something better. It's a HS Triple Glass that's apparently not produced anymore
