Bubba ~ I can't count all the times I have used the American Indians as my corner stone when talkin' about eatin' wild game in the summer time. They couldn't take a ride up to Winn-Dixie, Acme, or the Piggly- Wiggly, & have the butcher cut meat up for them. Threw the years as I was growin' up, there were several precautionary measures my father took while dealin' with animals of all types. Weather it be a fox in the winter or rabbit from the summer, he taught me that it is always wise to wear some type of protection, like latex gloves for example. Always using sharp tools, like a skinning knife or flesher, or maybe a razor blade you find that you will gain a nick or two on your fingers . These gloves help keep bacteria & other things not so nice out of the cuts. If it is possible, after handling any dead animal, wash your hands real good. I use an anti-bacterial soap when possible, & usually have a few bottles of it in the house at all times because of all of the dead animals I handle all the time, threw out the year.
