I was looking though the photo section of the Long Hunters Awards and low and behold I seen very few MLer's that didn't have a scope on it... This got me to thinkin' two things... Are there many traditionalist left anymore ? Are there ANY states that ban the use of a scope (this includes 1X) period ? I don't know of any; do any of the rest of you guys know of any ? www.nmlra.org/press.asp?Media=Photos&gallery=3

Well it almost seems like traditionalists are a dying breed. In our local club most of the members are +50. There is one guy in the club who is also a builder and early 30's Eric is into the Chunk Gun shooting big time and places very well at every shoot he attends. He makes the York Shoot every year, shoots at the Bevel Brothers Shoot and the Iowa Shoot. I am trying to convert my son, but have not gotten far with that yet.

Pennsylvania is still "no scopes" for the 2+ week flintlock season, which is held after Christmas. Both bucks and does are legal with the proper tag.
The early "does only" season, one week in October, allows in-lines and scopes.

Last time I checked, you couldn't use optical sights during NY's 1 week ML season. You can use an in line, though.

Iowa DNR turns a blind eye to Muzzleloaders. If the stuff goes in the front and no cartridge it's a muzzleloader. Must be .44 cal (ball or bullet, single projectile)or larger for Deer. Sites and optics are wide open. Like Red often says, all they care about is selling the tags.
