Wow.. an ORIGINAL .... now that's impressive ... about what period of what century was it made? I've got one double that's an original middle 1800's shotgun muzzleloader but it will NEVER be shot... it's not in the best shape in the world... What caliber is your Jager? Were you using a patched roundball?

First I'll call him and get the right answer on the approx. year it was made.

I talked w/ Bounce. The Jager is .50 caliber. Made in 1854. Marked "W. Rosll A (which means at) Stuttcart" (Germany). I think I posted it in the other thread but I'll add that the shot measured to be 105 yards!!!

Thanks everyone. Geting meat with this old rifle was & is a big deal to me. After T/M's and I got it restored and shoting again after a 100 years or so? It won a major club shoot, beat a national shooting champ, and now has made me meat. I will now retire the gun in large part but may on ocasion get it out for makeing smoke when and if the itch and need hit's me? But for me it has made it's self a trophy to me!!!! I use .498 balls in it that I cast my self.

Bounce, that's really special to get an old ML refurbished and use it again. And cast your own balls for it, too. Now, study up on making your own black powder! ;D
