the triumph is the only ML that you can take the breech plug out of without a tool, its a 1/4 turn and pull it out by hand. this year they are coming out with the same breech plug in the new encore . i can take the powder out of the triumph in the field without pullin the bullet, which i sometimes change powder if the guns been loaded 3-4 days while hunting just make sure it has'nt drawn moisture. another thing i like about the triumph is the 209 primer never gets to tight to remove by hand ,infact you can turn the gun up when opened and it will fall out. no tools for that either.

I've also heard that some people (even writers) were having problems getting the breech plug out as easily as it was advertized. As far as cleaning the gun with a CO2 canister. It would probably get a lot of crud out of the breech plug but I don't know. Paperclip or pick or something would probably do the job too.

srwshooter, I own the same rifle. I topped mine with a Nicon 3 X 9 Buckmaster scope... I also own a Remington 700 ML... I'd take the Triumph over most of the inline ML's out there today... using 150 gr of pyrodex and 250 gr Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots, I can group 4" at 150 yards with little or no problem. It's probably the most accurate ML I've ever shot.
I only hunted with it once this year but we have a ML season that starts next Saturday... I'm going to give it another try. I hope to fill another tag...

i have heard a few people say they couldn't get there breech plug out by hand on the triumph. i get no blow back in the breech plug on my gun,its just as easy to remove if it is perfectly clean as it is if it has been shot 10 times. the only thing that could make it tight is maybe a bur on something.
some of this may depend on hand stength also ,i'm a remodeling contractor and have a better than average grip .

I've seen a couple shed in late January but very few and far between. Two years ago when I was in Virginia one of the guys killed a nice 9 pt... when he went to grab the antler to haul it up in the "Mule", the dern thing came off in his hand... he was a little upset but I recon it didn't matter much. Oh, that was the first of January ... It's funny that a couple hundred miles makes such a difference on shed time...

My muzzleloader of choice is a Savage smokeless, does not require regular cleaning like a regular muzzleloader using BP or a sub. But if the Savage is not for you or laws don't allow you to shoot smokeless, the Encore or Omega are some of the best M/L's out there. JMHO
