I addmitt I like wonder wads too But I still put Lube 103 over the round ball, keeps every thing soft in the bore, and after cleaning I use it allso esecialy on the cillinder pin, Better than crisco still can melt on a hot day but it needs to be a even hoter day I think the meted stuff still works better than nothing. You can make your own to a stiffness of your likeing by melting beeswax and adding lube 103 to sofften to your likeing and you get all the 103 benifits in shooting allso havent done that for a while I think ? I used some vasoline allso in the mix I liked.

Naw, those wonder wads are actually pretty dry.
I can't remember if I got the brand name or whatever was marketed under the Cabelas brand.
You're right, we're not talking a lot of money - maybe 40 cents more per cylinder. $3-4 dollars at the end of the day. Well worth it. Same with the 777 I suspect.

It's nearly impossible to get the real stuff in this state. No one carries it.
It's either pyrodex P or 777. I've never shot 777 before and thought "What the hell. I'll see if it's what people are making it out to be" I don't care about the ease of cleanup at home, that's not the issue. Perhaps it won't gum up the action quite as much or require a cleaning at the range as much. I know pyrodex has a lot of fouling.
We'll see if it impresses me or not.

Wonderful...just wonderful. I got this cheap Traditions revolver nipple wrench and last night was going to take the nipples off to clean all the grease and gunk out. Well the wrench got rounded off with absolutly no effort. I was pretty mad and made a nice little 20 mile run late last night to Cabelas. So I bought this outragously expensive pedersoli wrench. Got that home and rounded the damned thing AGAIN !!! I'm fuming at this point but was able to file the wrench enough to make it work alright for the moment until I can return it With a rifle, there is no way to screw up a wrench. You put it on the nipple and you screw it off. There's no way to get it wrong. What I finally realized is that with the revolver you have to actually "lock" the wrench on the nipple. It has to be 100% perfect every single time or else you'll round the wrench. This is going to be a pain in the butt - I might as well buy a dozen of the things. And how is the consumer suppost to know this??? Trial and error I guess. I should change careers and be a professional instruction manual writer. Those manuals from snap together furnature from Walmart is more usefull than the blackpowder revolver manuals or the pedersoli wrench. So I'm doing some returns and exchanges soon of these broken wrenches
