You know, I thought my problem with the walker was solved - the gun still cocked harder than I expected it to...but ya know...
So I go to cabelas to pick up some balls, caps, etc. I'm standing there buying stuff with my dad (who was on the clock working there), and this other employee who's suppost to be the cap and ball guru. So they take this walker out from there case (which is the same gun only they want a ton more money for it) and the thing cocked SO MUCH easier. And that was with the wedge pushed deep into the reciever (which would bind my gun up where the cylinder wouldn't move at all). And then I notice there are no indentations on the cylinder where something has been scraping/striking it (it's like the dimple left from a centerfire firing pin hit the side of my cylinder in 6 different places). And the associate basically says that I need to ship this POS back and get one that works right.

And this is EXACTLY why I don't particularly like to special order and why I NEVER mail order anything.
So now I'm throwing my hands up in the air and tommarow I'm calling Dixie Gunworks and I'm requesting credit for the price of the gun, the shipping and handling to get it to me, and the shipping I'm going to pay to get it back to them. I just want to call it even. If they do that, I'll slander the name of Uburti and praise Dixie. They don't want to do that, I'll slander Dixie too(because I ain't paying 15 bucks to ship them their broken gun back). .
What the hell, I'll bash the whole Bennelli line of guns for even letting that piece of junk leave the factory and will boycott them for life.

You want to know what else, you're going to get a good read tommarow night too. Want to know why? This thing was shipped by UPS. Do you know the trouble I'm going to go through and how many people I'm going to have yell at to get UPS to accept this thing !!! I went through 3 or 4 UPS shops last year sending back my 22lr rifle before I found one that would take it.
AND THIS IS A HANDGUN !!!
This is going to be a mess.

Red, if you get Dixi to call in the shipping tag they will pick it up from your house. i have had two guns picked up that way, and fed-x picked up my shotgun from work without any hassles. ups, you have to go to the main wharehouse in earth city. i didn't know if the shipping of a black powder pistol was the same as a modern pistol since you don't need an ffl to receive it (black powder firearm) for my long guns i just use U.S.P.S. call the guy at mid american arms on gravois and ask him about shipping a black powder pistol, ask him if you can ship them in u.s. mail or not. he has walked me through several shipping questions over the phone and in person.

iMAGINE THIS RIGHT IN THE SHIPMENT WAS A PREPAID RETURN LABEL ADDRESSED AND READY TO HAND TO THE SHIPPER IF i WAS NOT HAPPY. aS IT WAS THERE WERE A COUPLE RIVETED BUTTONS BROKE OFF AND THEY HAD THE REPLACEMENT TO ME IN UNDER A WEEK. sOMETIMES IT PAYS TO SPEND A BIT MORE AND GET GOOD SERVICE IN THE DEAL.

What did I do?... ;D I believe it was twomoons who said that you can turn an ordinary gun into a turd just by buying it. I only said that I agreed with him.... ;D I'm really sorry to see this gun go back, it is a shame to turn what could have been a novel into a short story.

It all sort of reminds me of an old story......

A guy named Murphy married the love of his life and they left on a cruise for their honeymoon. The first day of the cruise Murphy's wife fell overboard and drowned. After a couple years of mourning Murphy met another woman and fell in love. They soon married and remembering his first honeymoon, Murphy stayed away from the ocean and they honeymooned at Niagara Falls. His new bride tripped and fell over the railing plunging to her death over the falls... Murphy was distraught. It took five years for him to start dating again and after a lengthy courtship he married again. Well I just got off the phone with Dixie.

I'm going to send the gun back to them along with the bill for the shipping. They'll try it again and credit my account for the shipping I paid.

We'll see what happens. For the price and service Dixie offers, I almost have to try it again. Not their fault Bennili makes junk . Now if it isn't right next time...I'm going to just return the thing and buy a 1858 from Cabelas.

I'm hoping that I get the gun back by next friday because I've got a 3 day weekend and going to be doing some camping and bowhunting within easy driving distance of my favorite range.

Lesson learned, never do mail order.

That's good news. Red!... Good for you, because you really do deserve a gun that works properly for your money. Well the gun is in the hands of UPS now.

I talked a little bit with JimH last night and he suggested either I lie about what it was or tell them to get screwed when they asked.

I was in a good mood so I just lied. So my "tools" are on it's way so long as UPS doesn't run xrays.

You know, all I want is something that functions properly.
It kind of seems wastefull in a way to buy this because you can get a cartridge revolver for not much more. So obvouisly a cap and ball has to be in perfect condition and the owner has to be happy with it's performance or else it's just going to sit.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Red... but I'm glad you got it straightened out...

I've had similar problems with Mack's Prairie Wings (I get a lot of my waterfowl stuff from them) ... I keep getting things that is either broke, not put together right, parts missing or only half my order... I'm getting so I don't want to order things on-line any more...
