Well I have a new old M/L to take to the shoot. A fellow walked in yesterday and asked if I still shot muzzleloaders and then dragged a box from under his arm. Inside was a NEW/old Hopkins and Allen (Numerich) under hammer target pistol, unfired! He said it was his uncles and he wanted a little more than the 39.95 on the box so I gave him $50.00 and we both smiled. These were a hot set up on the target circuit 40 years ago so I'll see how good they still shoot. I still have the 435 rb mould that came with mine in 1967.

One of those Hopkins & Allen underhammers was my first experience in muzzle loading. I'm guessing it was around 1970 or '71. While I was saving pennies for a new Ruger 77, a buddy was saving for a Hopkins & Allen underhammer "rifle". It was the shorter barreled rifle he wanted, I think they were called the "buggy" rifle. (there's that word again.. ;D) I saved enough for my new Ruger but my buddy came up short, but he had enough for the underhammer pistol... A couple of us chipped in for a round ball mould and a pound of black powder and we started making a lot of smoke. I have no idea how well the thing shot, we never shot at any paper targets, mostly cans and bottles. We also took turns terrorizing, but not endangering, the local groundhog population. We sure had a blast with that gun....

I've never seen a pistol, but know a guy who took a rifle and fitted it with a 50 cal 1 1/8" barrel and it made up into a real nice Chunk Gun.

Kenny T use to have one of those guns that he shot at matches and that Two Moons put a .40 cal barrel on for him. Pretty awsome shooting gun. My wife still has her Numeric Arms rifle I built for her from a kit and its what Two Moons taught me to do inlays on. ;D Its covered in inlays. Still shoots pretty dang good though.

2M's and I looked for it in the Gun Parts Inc book. Low and behold its still there in parts. I think $100.00 would cover parts. Than you have to build it.

Don was over tonight and looked at the underslung banglesnatcher. He liked it and after he left I added an overtravel screw and now the gun should be ready for competition. I hope to get it sighted this week and ready for the matches next Saturday.

2 1/2" groups at 25 yards from a rest. It is NOT a two handed gun though. I shot one shot two handed with my finger under the trigger guard and I forgot that the guard IS the main spring. When I pulled the trigger the spring snapped and I almost dropped the gun iwas so surprised. Bounce kinda liked it though.

This weekend is the Verdigre gun show, it is small just like the town but I allways try to buy something their, once recintly it was a Red Rider bb gun as I could not find anything else worth while I could aford. So I am now wondering if & what will follow me home this year?? I do maybe have a backup plan if I can't find anything [ just read T/M's last post] anyway I like this time of year and I'm looking forward to what ever I find?? DD are you thinking of going to Wagner Shoot sunday? I might but not definate yet.
