I'm going to have 2M's reline a old MLer for me. My problem is: What caliber do I want? I think I'd really like a .40 caliber . But in Nebraska you need a .45 caliber to be "legal" ::)for deer. What do you guys think? .40 or .45?

Kind of depends on whether you have another in a legal caliber to hunt deer with. It was Iowa's requirement of .44 ball(basicly .45 with patch) or larger that prompted me to go .45 with my first scratch build rifle.

I think you should do the .40 if it's that pistol? Then I can sell you my.40 cal balls. Got lots left and no .40 anymore.

No Bounce it's the Smyth rifle. I want to use it for hunting. i have the .45 flinter and the .62 percussion. It makes sense to go w/ the .45 cause than I can "legally" use it for deer.

.45 if all your planning on doing is shooting it for ML season. I might take the preasure off your .62 a bit. By the way is it still holdindg together?

I guess if you are going to be "legal", you'll have to go with the .45. I sorta like the .40 idea. If for no other reason just that it is not as common as the .45. But, we can't have the local constabulatory breaking the game laws.. ;D

I suspose your right. I shouldn't be out there trying to break laws... Even stupid ones. So I guess the liner will be .45 caliber. Can't wait to get it done and use it next deer season.

Come on Bounce. You can do it "all night long" I know you got a few left in you. And I do think I'll be using the MLer next Dec.

Didn't rain here today but man the wind did blow. At lest it wasn't hailing like a couple days ago. Guy says to me yesterday. "You got more snow up here than we did down south" My answer was no snow don't bounce. Ours did. So what caliber you going with Dep-Don. You didn't state what you were going to go with yet.

As to the weather....We went to Kenasaw NE. today and on the way home it snowed on us between Grand Island and O'Neill. As far as the new caliber. I am going w/ .45 caliber. Just as well stay legal during deer season.
