Just came back from the fall rendevous and we had a fine time lots of good shootin' eating and camping. Our pot luck dinners featured bear, deer, frog, elk, buffalo and woodchuck so we had quite an assortment. I was some dissappointed in my shooting this time out. I loaned my rifle to my brother and he beat me with my own gun and then Bounce took top honors with an old rusty relic. If had know I would have to shoot against that old german hawken i would have spent less time lapping the bore. As we sat talking about past shoots and as I worked on the sldie show of the clubs history I was remined of all the use to be rondevous folks and how much we miss them. Even if they are just too lazy to drive up and say hi. (Bill) We decided to have the fall shoot on the same weekend for next year so if anyone wants to plan in advance it will be the first weekend in October.

Was the grass greener after you left? Sounds like a good time. I think I am either to lazy or to ignorant or both to be making buckskins. I suspect that is the proper attire for such affairs. I hope I don't sound like a biker who rides to Sturgis in his two million dollar motor home and then rides around town in his custom Harley. But are buckskins for sale somewhere?

OK, I think I know what Red feels like in at least one area. $1,250 for a shirt and pants. wow. But then it says more for larger sizes. 20" neck, 38"arms and 36" inseam and we won't mention waist size probably won't squeeze into the regular size.

I know what you mean Dakota... .. I often wonder how many more guns I could have bought if I was 5'10" and 175 lbs... Finding a pair of boots on closeout is darned tough when you wear size 14's... Maybe period clothing in cloth, instead of leather, wouldn't hurt quite as bad. Here are some sources... Barkertown SutlersCalapooia TradersBushwoman'sHere is a place with sizes to 5 and 6X.... I wonder if thats why the guys around here are so into Chunk Gun Shooting? "Bookie said he liked it cause he could lay down to shoot". Seems Bibbies and Flannel is proper attire for the Chunk Shoots. I've kind of decided I will have to have a chunk gun if I hang with this bunch. '

Are club U.M.M.L. had their anual meeting and Steak feed tonight and I was presented my Plack award for wining the fall shoot. It's a nealy 2' slab of fancy stained cotten wood with 20 brass name plates on it. with a larger one at the top saying this, MR. LLOYD" FUSSELMAN ANNUAL MEMORIAL MOUNTAINMAN WALK . Then going down on the left side, 1st tag is CHET GRENIER [BLISTER] 2004 2nd tag is DAN HALVERSON [TWO STOVES] 2005 3rd tag DON EHRENBERG [bounce] 2006 , SO I get to show it off till next year!! I allso got the neatest set of cross stix their for $5 bucks made by Stoney Point [ POLE CAT] it's a little pack of 14" sticks you just drop and it becomes a real kool set of excilent cross stixs, just neat as all and plum funcanal. Good job Bounce! I went to a rondavoo in Montana two years ago (it was on the edge of the town (population <100) I was living in. The clothing worn there was more like the 'ctraders' than anything else. There were guys wearing buckskins though. I figured they made the buckskins themselves. (The Barkertown Sutlers have some problems with their WEB site.)

Reference Bounce... A younger member looking at the trophy sees that the first winner was Two Stoves and the next was Griz and so on and when she got to Bounce, she asked, "doesn't Bounce have a camp name"? He dad explained that Bounce was his camp name and then had to call me to find out what his real name was!
