It looks like Miles City, MT is the closest Goex distributor - 112 miles down highway 12. Midway is sending balls and pre-lubed patches. I had some denim laid out for the shooting ---but factory bullets and patches, what will they think of next?

For cheap patching Dakota go to walmart and buy a couple yards of pillow ticking. It must be 100% cotton. Take it home and wash it, it ends up being .018 thick then. Then cut it into strips about 1 1/2" wide. Then when you load your gun you put the strip (which you have spread lube on) across the bore and lay the ball on top of it. Then use your short starter to just get the ball below the level of the muzzle and take a sharp knife and cut off the excess patching. Then drive the ball down the rest of the way. I alway tie the strip of patching to my possibles bag so when I cut the excess off the strip don't stray away from me and is easy to reloacate. Works pretty awsome and its cheaper than buying precut patches too. Two Moons made a cutter that was the size of a .54 cal precut that goes into his drill press. He just takes the pillowticking and folds it up till he has a large stack of folds 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" and then runs the drill press and cuts threw the stack till he has a whole pile of patches. A bit more work but you don't have the strip hanging onto your possibles bag that way. ;D

To make a patch cutter cheap get a 1 1/4" hole saw and file off the teeth and sharpen the outside edge. As the french say Viola! although I don't know how an oversized fiddle has anythihhng to do with muzzleloading. We have a pillow cleaning truck that comes to town once a year and they steam clean you pillow and re tick them. The last time they came I followed them to the dumpster at the end of the day and got a trunk full of used ticking free.

No, borrowing implies you're going to give it back to him.
I'd just ask for some lol
Serouisly though, pillow ticking like Bill said works very well.
