I feel fairly sure these type of rings are still made but am not absolutely certain. I'm going to go see about a CZ452Lux tomorrow. It's a .22 with the European type stock and a 24" barrel. It only weighs 5.3lbs which is a real departure for me. However, it has both front and rear sights. I notice the CZ rings are all 1" models. I don't want to have the sights removed. I would prefer the "see through" rings that allow me to use either sights or a scope. I'm just not sure they're made for a .22. I think the mounts are a slide on rail type which I have on several rifles and like. If there's a problem it'll be with the rings. Any ideas or suggestions out there? Best wishes.

Yes they are available. I know I have a set of Weavers in my gear box that has never been opened. I have used see-through rings, but am not fond of them.

Can't hardly see thru them and can't hardly raise your head high enough to see thru the scope.

I agree with Bill and Jim.... ...Never been a fan of See-Throughs...Just a gimmick in my eyes. I always figured them to be a good game saver. I'm sure many a deer has escaped with a hunter trying to find him looking through that iron site tunnel... ...And I'll bet more have been missed by poor shooting caused by the hunter having to "Turkey Neck' to look through the scope, not what one would call a "solid" shooting posture...

Maybe I'll do just as well leaving the existing sights on the rifle since my scope will clear the sights. I'll just have to remove the scope to use the iron sights, but it's better than not having them at all. There are times when I prefer using the rifles sights. Best wishes.

I understand your dilema Calsibley. I have gone hunting for rabbits with a .22 with a J4 Weaver. I usually like this combination. However, on one day the rabbits were very hard to pick up in the underbrush with a scope. I would have preferred iron sights that day. Most of my .22's have only iron sights. I guess for me, I will probably take along a rifle with a scope and a rifle without a scope as I really dislike the see-through mounts. The biggest problem with see through mounts in my opinion is as Bill stated earlier. Seeing through the mounts and lining up on the sights and game can be exasperating/difficult. Looking through the scope may require lifting the cheek off the stock and when I do that my ability to hit things is difficult to say the least.

I've got Weaver see-thru mounts of the dovetail type on my Mauser .22 sporter. I had to use them to avoid having the bolt handle bent. My Mauser didn't have the standard 3/8" dovetail but the Weaver mounts fit the dovetail that it had. I'm not a big fan of the see-thru mounts but I'm not a big opponent of them either. I've never had any problems with the ones I've used.
