Bounce came over this week and traded me out of my 1888 Commssion Carbine (KAR88). The gun has a real nice bore and was a good shoter and was S bored with a .323 barrel. The Commission rifle was the result of Tuetonic panic at the 1886 SMOKLESS Lebel that was the A Bomb of it's time. The German Army needed a smokless gun right now and had one designed by a committee. This is the same committee that designed the camel while trying for a horse. The 88's are super smooth jacketed barrel turnbolt rifles with a Manlicher style action and a enblock clip. They were adaquate rifles but not as quick to load as the Mauser stripper clips and not as strong as the later mausers. They fell out of favor in Germany and were relagated to second line and Turkish sales by 1898 and in the 20's Sears amoung others sold them as German hunting rifles. Since they were made by ludwig and Lowe, a firm owned by Jewish businessmen the rifles were nicknamed Jew guns (Jewdenflinte) in Germany and by WWI were obsolete. The Carbine K88's are getting quite rare now and Bounce now has one that was sold as a hunting rifle in Sweden in he 20's and has apparantly killed 9 somethings by the hash marks on the stock, probably Alg or Swedish moose.

So we know what bounce has now, but what did two moons end up with? Something tells me it's a tad more than the usual dead frog and marbles. Or is two moons loosing his touch?
