Ok so what do you do when you see a nice deal on a complete barreled action and offer a trade that you think will never fly and the guy accepts? So I have a Savage 114 American barreled action complete, all I need is a stock,in .270 coming my way. I don't even like the .270. So the shotgun is coming in tomorrow and this savage will be in by mon. I wish I could find a factory 114 American take off barrel in 35 Whelen to put on it. Oh I do need to find a stock.

I'm trading an item I have 80.00 into plus 40.00 actual cash. So 120.00 out of pocket.

Savages with the barrel nut are easier to correctly head space for other calibers. 270 Is nice but I got rid of mine and kept the 30-06's instead. Not much difference in a 270 than a 30-06 with today's better bullets.
Stocky's and bell and Carson make some nice aftermarket stocks.
Sounds like you have done very well.

WOW, I'm speechless and what model is it? preaccutrigger, accutrigger, or accustock? The model 114 American is their gloss blued, walnut model and is accu trigger and accu stock. The rifle goes for close to 700.00 However trying to find a factory stock will not be easy nor cheap.

Got the savage and the Winchester tonight on my way home from work. I don't think that savage had ever been in a stock from the looks of it. The Winchester is ok, not as much blueing as it looked like in the photo but it is smooth and not all pitted up.

UPDATE: i had selected the wrong stock for my rifle as mine has the detachable magazine and the stock was set up for a bling magazine model, so i cancled the order. then the guy i got the action from offered up the stock to the rifle of which he originaly was going to keep for use on another rifle. i then ended up getting him to agree with me sending hime 6 boxes of .243 ammo for the stock. they are the win silver box 100 gr power point stuff i picked up a few years back cheap.

This one just gets better. Congrats on the total rifle purchase.
It should be a real pleasure to shoot. So are you looking are the stock price of 120 (what I figure you got the ammo for with tax) or the replacement value of the ammo today about 180 Plus tax.
Either way it had to be less expensive than the replacement stock.

I have about 75.00 into the ammo, could be less as some of it i picked up about 4 yrs ago. But actual value to buy it today is about what the stock would run so we both end up winning.
