Red get out that 880SQ and kill some tree rats with it. Leave the shotgun at home. No #6 shot in that meat. Yeah, I know...it's just so darn expensive to drive 70 miles 1 way when I have a shotgun place 10 miles.

I think i am pistol hunting mainly this year, I do not go until the temps fall. Warbels and skeeters do not make for a good season for me. I will post a few pic when i go, I did see the red phase coon near my seer tree stand location again, if I see him out when the fur is prime I am making him into a hat.

Yesterday I saw 4 bucks. One spike, 2 little forkhorns, and a 10 pointer. The county I am hunting in is QDM - bucks have to have 4 points on one side. (A Georgia deer license allows you to take 2 bucks and 10 does). The 10 point was in front of me for 30 minutes or more, feeding in a feed plot. I first saw him at about 110 yards, and he was as close as 40 yards. The 10 point was a young deer- the main beams weren't very thick, and the tines weren't really long, so, I let him go. First of all, a year's breeding season will do the herd some good if his genes get spread around - rut hasn't really started here in Georgia. Next year, if he makes it through the season, that buck will be a real wall hanger- maybe a B&C book deer. I have until January to fill the freezer, so I have lots of time. It was fun to watch a nice buck like that for so long.

Red fin you need an extra gun on that land lease .............. You have my number! I'm lucky I'm going! It's 100 acres but the way it lays you can only put 3 rifles on it so you're not shooting at eachother or interstate 70. Plus it doesn't help the neighbor has his stands right on the fence line. And if on Friday evening they are still calling for rain and 20mph wind for the weekend, I may very well stay at home since I have Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off.

12 to 13 pointer wide and tall. Field dressed at 181 and I had the loin butterflied and the rest into burger minus 12 rolls of summer sausage with cheese and peppers. I did not Measure the inside spread nor did I make any measurements at all but I did tell the butcher to cape it out. I have never done anything but it off the horns and hang them on the outbuilding but this one might be different.
I still hunted this one. He was following a doe and she was leading him down the fence row. When I saw them in my new vortex monocular I knew I had to stay calm and keep from shaking. I was at a 90 degree angle to the fence they were heading to right I to my wind pAth and when she crossed it she turned and started back the other way but stopped to feed in the corn field but was in a little draw in which they could not see me and I could not see them. I snuck up the field over the top and their he was with his back to me.
I lined up the crosshairs and shot. He ran with no kick or signs of being bit so I rack and shot a second round and he stopped so I racked and let a third shot go which looked good also. He ran again into a second little depression and I saw a flag jump the fence. I waited a good 20 seconds and walk to the fence where I saw the Flag and a doe busted out away from that fence into CRP. I figured I had missed all shots and I heard a noise behind me in the field and the deer was right in the field. First shot was good enough high lung destroyed one lung. The second took out the spine at the rib cage and that is why he was in the field. I dispatched quick with the blade.
Once again almost 0 blood trail but he had a ton in chest.
I got a bunch of crap locally on a board about shooting more than once. I did not wAnt this one to get away so I would have fired as many rounds as I had to get ER done. All shots were 60 to 80 yards away offhand as I had no time to deploy the shooting sticks.
I have to go see the youngest cheer in Indy today so I will check in later. I now have to firings out what to do with the rest of November and dec since I am tagged out and won't need and more deer this year.

Wow, great buck!
Good job JimH!
I stayed home today due to the windy weather. Yesterday 3 of us saw 3 deer all day (though the one I saw was trophy quality but he wouldn't give me a clear shot in the brushy creek bottom). I'll be going mon, tue, wed this week and will probably hold off for a big buck.
