We all know their high but I haven't looked or bought any sence last august I think so seeing yesterday was still a shock. Last summer I bought some 12 ga. for trap shooting for around $4 a box. Yesterday I went to the city for materials for a new bathroom floor then went across the street to Wal-Mart & decided I should have more 12 ga. & 410 ga shells. Well the ammo sheves are pretty darn emptey 1st more bare than not and then only a box to just a few of anything. No 12 ga cartens of 100 shells like last time and what is their for shotguns most were over $15 & 17 dollors a box of 25 I almost din't buy any but I realy wanted some as well so I cleaned out all the Winchester super speed Xtra 7-1/2 -12ga for $10 something 3 boxes & 2-1/2 - 6 shot .410 Remington 3 boxes Left maybe 6 on the shelf for $10 something and 3 boxes Winchester superX .410 in 3 inch 7-1/2 shot for $13 something, I truly hope this is the last time for shuch prices but Who knows anymore? I just may not wear out my new trap as fast as I had pland too LOL. Oh and yes I took all the 3" 410 at that price as well. I would think Trap & skeet clubs will realy take a hit once their supplys are used up? I guess I do not see this changeing for 4 years. So will likely be shooting trap with my muzzel loader.

I have seen the shelves empty also of a lot of different shells. The store near where I am staying in IL was all out of .40, .41, and .45 but had a few .45ACP. All the .223 slots were totally empty. Just a couple of boxes of 9MM and .38 must not have been too popular because they had a lot of it. Prices were up too!

I was in are local Bomgarrs yesterday & it is mostly empty of everything, the last time their was a rush I din't think they got hit that time. But next to nothing now. I don't think they had any .22s even. Tells me the people are scared of this government.

I made the mistake of not upping my prices and I am about cleaned out. I am having to ration 22's and 223's to 1 box to a customer. As for ammo for myself since I cast my own bullets and reload and since i have a good stockpile of primers and powder I figure I wont have to buy any ammo for another 5 years or so.

Will likely put a stop to very much trap shooting at my place as no one will want to shoot up shells.

I belong to the local trap club. I put in my order for shot and powder and wads. When I did this part of my order was for a 8 lb keg of 700X which I use in reloading 80% of my handgun loads. All except for my 10MM and .357 Mag which I have plenty of powder for already. So I am good to go with just about everything for the next year except for .22 NBT bullets in 50 grain which is what I use in my .223 Varmint rifle. I am going to have to figure out a solution for that one. Otherwise I am good to go.

I can't say this for certain but it seems likely & of corse we have no repoters to persue this either. But it seems not only are the people stocking up the ammo but the goverment from Home land security has sent out straw buyers to buy up the public supply of ammo. Unless the big box stores & other large buyers can identify and cut them out we have seen the end to new ammo for a long time maybe ever. Yes I belive this is happening.
Much more on this if you do your own serching. I'm not going to spend my day finding it for you, get involved be an american.

I picked up 5 boxes of factory 7-08 Rem ammo for 12.00 a box shipped. Couldn't pass it up at that price, now my sons have some affordable range material for this summer.

Here is a intresting little bot program to find ammo deals. GUNBOT. gunbot.net/index.php?cal=223556NO more overchecking sites and getting out the calculator. 308, 30-06 and sometimes 22lr at CMP shipped to my door. 5000 rounds of basically rem target was under 185 per 5000. Now aquila is 250 and 315 per 5000. www.odcmp.com/Sales/ammo.htm#Remington22To bad the Kimber seems to like 1050 to 1080 fps 22lr ammo. The new stuff they sell is a bit fast for it. but ammo is ammo. Still shoots better them normal bulk ammo.

PS the Kimer model 82G's (Rusties yet unissued) are still around. Best 425 you are going to spend on a bench rest 22. www.odcmp.com/Sales/22targetsurplus.htmWhen I picked out mine there were 2000 I do not know how many might be left over all but only 18 left at port Clinton. Better order one cause when these sell out the price will double instantly just like last time.

Since I don't buy loaded ammo any more except .22's (which you now can't find around here), I haven't really been checking the prices. However, since Obama got re-elected, the shelves have been pretty empty and reloading components are just non-existent. I need some black powder stuff. Hopefully that won't have been affected by the buying frenzy. I couldn't even find Hornady One-Shot spray lube the last time I went looking. This is a major paint in the rear.

www.profiresupply.com/index.htmMy local source, good prices, good availability, great knowlwdge base, rents cronographs, has dies in calibers for loan out (you bring in say your 45 acp die and check out a 357 max setup for a 2 week period Does 25 dollar FFL transfirs, Used to be an ammo maker but his insurance rate went up so as of march 1 st he is out of selling his own ammo. I had been buying his red star ammo in 9mm for some time. Best yet if I get a large amount of brass purchase primers powder and ammo from him and arrive at the start of a business day I can often use his equipment like one of several Dillion progressive and kick out lots of good rounds much quicker than on my single stange. His dies, his experance tweaking the setup and then just crank out 9mm, 45 acp, 223, he even helped me trim some cases on the 35 rem to make it Indiana deer legal round. (Trimmed to 1.8 brass.) Varget and some others are hard to get right now for him but if you are looking for general round powders he has soomething to use. Just have to be a little more open minded at times. Primers come and go but once again if you look at say cci instead of winchester you could put something together. It is not a paradise right now. Just not a waistland. I am also looking for 1080 fps 40 grain lead round nose 22 long rilfe rounds at the moment for the Kimber. I seem to have 1150, 1200,1250,1233, and one box of 1085 fps but i need 1080 or 1050 fps. Then again I have a couple more places to look around the house. I am sure there is some cci standard around here. ,

...I am sure there is some cci standard around here. , I went to the biggest gunshop in the area last week and they had cases of CCI standard velocity out on the floor priced at (as I recall) like $39 for 500 rounds. Before Obummer got re-elected CCI Blazers were selling for like $13-14 per a case of 500. WOW!!!
